If you don't have a passport are you basically a 'prisoner' in your own country? 8-)

I haven't had one for nearly 15 yrs but don't feel like a 'prisoner', yet so many people for whom regard international travel as a 'human rite' (not 'right') and look down on anyone who doesn't all seem to have that attitude.

Interational travel is a luxury for people who are affluent and/or elite, esp. post-Vid because we're an island continent here in Oz with no direct land or short ocean connection to any other country.

I’ve read that in Europe travel is not so much a “luxury”. Middle class people get to travel all the time in their 20’s, 30’s, and beyond. The decline of unions is essentially why we don’t have that in the US. Me, I could afford to travel, but I’m on the autism spectrum and don’t have any friends who’d be willing to travel with me. That’s currently why I’ve never been to another country before 🙁

I have one, just used it to go to Mexico. Great time. But we also have a very big country (Canada) i know people that dont have one, and still travel quite a bit.

I finally let mine expire while covid was on, for various reasons that mean I no longer wish to travel outside OZ. Right now I am in the safest, overal best place I can be for some years to come..😷

Haven’t been overseas in 20 years. This coming June and don’t mind it

Mine needs to be renewed, but I don't plan to leave the country again.

I have never been out of the us. I’m fine with that.
i have one but won't need it unless i travel to any country other than the united states....they would put me in jail for being canadian and suspected of anything unamerican....checkpoint charlie 2025

@beermeplease At least in the USA you can travel direct to Canada or Mexico without having to fly up to 24 hours to get to a different country. ;-_

I have one but probably won’t get to use it again

Not really because I can move anywhere within the E.U.

At most prisoner of the E.U? But where else would I go?

You mean to say you can't just scamper across other countries borders whenever you feel like it? Huh! Who knew??
zonavar68 · 56-60, M
