Loved to travel when I was younger and had my wife, or entire family, to travel with. I am not into group tours -- I prefer the opportunities for spontaneity and discovery -- and traveling solo is not easy or cheap (everything keyed to two-persons), unless you are young, traveling light, and staying in hostel type accommodations.

Countries: most of Western Europe, majority of US and Canada, portions of Mexico and Australia, major part of New Zealand.

Favorite: probably a tie between New Zealand and Ireland.

Why?: I loved the proximity of the ocean, the variation in terrain, the friendliness of the people, and the human scale of their urban centers. Good food in both as well.

With whom?: Loved traveling with my late wife when she was alive. Not many women who can live five weeks at a stretch out of one large suitcase and two carry-ons. Plus she shared my preference for only loose itineraries, with the flexibility to be spontaneous if we saw something worth exploring. And with the kids when they were younger.

My favourite thing to do….

Been all over Europe, USA and Australia.

Australia is my favourite but I also love Greece and Cyprus.

Australia I go on my own.

Yes, we are off to Japan for 3 weeks in August 2024. We are also doing a 12 night cruise around Japan
Travelled overland Sydney to London when younger. Lots has changed since then, with revolutions and invasions in some of the countries I passed through - Timor, Iran, Afghanistan, Myanmar (Burma)

Loved Nepal and trekking in the Himalayas.

Been around Europe since, and Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco.

But I think my traveling days are done.

Maybe I did too much traveling before I retired, because I don't enjoy it now. I have visited England and Mexico, and I enjoyed England more because of family history there. I would like to go back to England and also to visit Scotland, Germany, and Holland to check on ancestral areas.

Nope, I hate traveling. But I have been to Mexico with my wife.

Generally small towns only. I won't say which ones for privacy.

Most of Europe and once to NYC. Favourite country, probably Norway.
Outside of America I've only been to Mexico, Costa Rica, and Puerto Rico. I thought they were all pretty boring, Costa Rica was the most different and the most beautiful though, I went to the jungle part and I've never been surrounded by so much nature. I heard sounds at night that I've never heard.. the insects sounded like foreign machines and made insane crazy noises

We mainly travel in America. We have a motorhome and are retired so we can take a month long trip whenever we want. As for countries I have been to Canada, Mexico and the Bahamas. Of those I liked the Bahamas the best. I am a summer person.
