what useful souvenir are you buying while traveling?

We bought maple syrup and some magnets and some photos of Niagara Falls from Canada.
But what we really impressed about Canada was that many items are cheaper than America in Costco.
Sensodyne toothpaste was a lot cheaper so we bought some there.🤭
My husband and I laughed at each other for useful souvenir....

Rarely ever buy any typical souvenirs. But will find a cool rock or truckload to bring home. Usually the only reason I travel is to find some crystals or something.
icedsky · 51-55, M
@Eyeinthesky no specials tools really needed. Just research online and in old books. Where to go. And what to look for.
Eyeinthesky · 56-60, F
@icedsky No doubt you are full of peace, mental wellbeing and harmonized mind around rocks at home..🍀
Eyeinthesky · 56-60, F
@icedsky beautiful✨
originnone · 61-69, M
I think I bought some taffy the last time we were at the jersey shore....about ten years ago.
originnone · 61-69, M
@Eyeinthesky It's a thing at the jersey shore.....We used to go to cape may, which is the farthest point south.
Eyeinthesky · 56-60, F
@originnone I see, when I had a chance to go there, I will look for it..
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@originnone it is the best, except if you have loose fillings! James and Fralingers. If I remember correctly, Fralingers comes in a longer thinner shape, easier to start eating, also has great flavors.

In Hilton Head, S.Carolina, I love the toffee at Salty Dog.
JohnnyNoir · 56-60, M
I'd get refrigerator magnets, plus things from microbreweries around the country.
Eyeinthesky · 56-60, F
@JohnnyNoir I used to collect mini bottles whiskeys from Scotland... I didn't think about here...

Practical:
Pen(s). Lightweight and practical :)
A pen is something you can find for cheap anywhere... if I see a pretty pen on a trip, I'd buy it and every time I use it, it brings nice memories 💗

Not so practical, but enjoyable:
I also enjoy it when I see original and cheap wearable items (bracelet, hair scrunchies, earrings). I don't wear many, but I like it when the ones I wear carry some good energy - tiny mood boosters 😊
Eyeinthesky · 56-60, F
@Busybee333 That is practical! Some cheap wearable items are excellent, I sill have a necklace from Bangkok and keep memories alive.🍀🤗
AndrewG · 22-25, M
I buy shot glasses
Eyeinthesky · 56-60, F
@AndrewG that's right, my husband bought several for his coworkers... I forgot..
ninalanyon · 61-69, T
Surely there is no such thing as a useful souvenir!
ninalanyon · 61-69, T
@Eyeinthesky Had some but I drew the line at fried bees and pigeon heads. Had dog, also had frogs legs, and a snake. But most other dishes were more conventional. In some places we taught the locals how to make some things that we liked from home.
Eyeinthesky · 56-60, F
@ninalanyon What a great experience you had...very adventurous👏💚
ninalanyon · 61-69, T
@Eyeinthesky I was there on business, didn't really have any choice about exactly where I went. But it was a great adventure, long before China became the economic power that it is now.
Degbeme · 70-79, M
Please come back and help yourself to more maple syrup. 😚 I can`t stand the stuff.
Degbeme · 70-79, M
@Eyeinthesky Like I said. It is free if you can get away with it. 😬
Eyeinthesky · 56-60, F
@Degbeme tempting but living dangerously is not my thing..😂
Degbeme · 70-79, M
@Eyeinthesky Can`t say as I blame you.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
I like to buy local food and drink, which I always find useful 😋

I also like picture postcards to send to my nieces, but they can be really difficult to find sometimes.
Eyeinthesky · 56-60, F
@SunshineGirl That's the fun part of traveling to have local food and drink..😄
NCCindy · 36-40, F
Funny.... Last time I was in the Northern part of Washington State, I was surprised how many Canadian license plates I saw in the Bellingham WA Costco parking lot.
Eyeinthesky · 56-60, F
@NCCindy We were glad that we could use the American Costco membership card in Canada..I guess Canadians can use their card here in America as well...😄
meggie · F
I only buy something edible to take into work like biscuits, chocolate or sweets
Eyeinthesky · 56-60, F
@meggie anything make us happy is useful. 😘
Jackrules · 56-60
Good for you.
I’m still drinking Gyokuro tea from Japan last year.
Eyeinthesky · 56-60, F
@Jackrules Thank you... I love green tea.😃
Bill1372 · 51-55, M
Smuggling Sensodyne across the border? Don’t get caught… lol
Eyeinthesky · 56-60, F
@Bill1372 Lucky that Sensodyne helped my sensitivity and I am so relaxed nobody notices..🤫
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
was that because of the exchange rate?

I love Gretsky's Ice Wine, if you can ever get some, buy it!
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@Eyeinthesky That is weird, although Sensodyne does frequently go on sale here at Costco. Do they sell wine in Costco in Canada?
Eyeinthesky · 56-60, F
@samueltyler2 I saw a lot of wine...more than American Costco..
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@Eyeinthesky only some Costcos sell liquor. Our local Costco does, and I buy lots of my wine and spirits there. My problem with Costco is that i will buy 3 bottles and taste one, if we love it and go back, they may already be sold out. The regularly sell J Lohr cabernet sauvignon from the casa robles area for less than $14 USD, it is a great buy. They used to sell Berringer cab from the same region for $12, but on sale less than $10, when I see that, I buy several cases.
Teslin · M
Sensodyne ?? Interesting.
Eyeinthesky · 56-60, F
@Teslin Its expensive.. you know when we get older, we tend to get sensitive tooth...🥴
Teslin · M
@Eyeinthesky Oh yes. I am older than you and use it LOL. I was thinking you were classifying it as a souvenir 😊
Ozdharma · 61-69, M
I bought some mad honey in Nepal 🇳🇵
I like to buy local produce or crafts, so food or clothes or maybe a bag or something .
Not that I travel much🤷
Eyeinthesky · 56-60, F
@OogieBoogie Bag sounds good, it is really useful and handy.😃
