I'm a lot less hardcore than in my earthfirst! days of sabotaging bulldozers and chaining myself to trees,but yeah - I still care.I eventually bought a car ,learned to live indoors and buy a few consumer goods here and there (though almost always used) and I still manage to clean up beaches and plant a few hundred trees a year...Why do you ask? Because movements are rife with hypocrites? There's very little shame in my game. I do eat animals,but not every day.
Trees and Dolphins talked to me when I was young and lit up on LSD and so I try to help them out and undo some of the sickening damage my species has achieved.It 'effin hurts.

@dubkebab I ask because I don't believe there are many that truly care.
Don't get me wrong if you are doing something positive great but as you said there are hypocrites.
I try not to waste food.
But I have found more recently food spoiling before I've had a chance to even eat it.
Fresh fruit and veg.
So that really yanks my chain.
I eat meat. I can't afford not to health wise.
I tried being a pescatarian, winding down to becoming a veggie. But despite taking so many supplements my stats declined.
So I'm back on meat.

@Mellowgirl I can dig it,and I appreciate where you're coming from.
Putting guilt on the consumer is a propaganda con.The entire system is rigged to benefit corporate bottom lines=profit above sustainability.They do little more than parrot ideas about ecology whilst pumping out the chemicals and single use plastic crap.
We had an unusually hot summer last year,during what is now known as 'fire season' (as in raging forest fires) my friend turns to me and says..."enjoy the coolest summer of the rest of your life..." yeah,that stuck with me. We're in for a wild ride,regardless of hipster's opinions or choices in the coffee line.

No, but I do care. I've known more environmental activists and they really did care, and some of them achieved some mind-blowing results.
Do you not care about the environment or do you think it isn't under threat?

@Abstraction I don't really know what to make of it all.
Personally we have read about exhintion and how animals and certain plants didn't make it through whilst some adapted to their changing environment. A part of me feels like it is just that.
I also dont think we help ourselves by filled the sea and earth with all the crap we do.
But I personally feel like this is a major inconvenience for those that need things to stay as they are. For infrastrure purposes.
Will we all die... Who knows but aren't we all dying from the day we are born.
I do what I can to minimise my foot print but is it enough probably not.

I care and contribute to a few conservation groups that work to preserve wilderness areas and wetlands, as well as one group that works on a small scale to preserve habitat for one of my favorite animals.
originnone · 61-69, M
I'm not sure I care anymore. My professional career was about improving the environment. Now, I wonder who we're improving it for. Humans? Animals? Animals will carry on, and I'm not sure humans are worth the trouble.

Not an activist but I’m vegan and I do what I can but recycling is complicated where I live.
Mellowgirl · 31-35, F
@Aidan why complicated?
Aidan · 26-30, F
@Mellowgirl it’s not very accessible in my area
Mellowgirl · 31-35, F
@Aidan maybe a letter could be written and signed by locals to change that.
Jeephikelove · 51-55, F
I wouldn’t say activist, but I report people who leave dogs in their car with no windows down.
dubkebab · 56-60, M
@Jeephikelove I'd count that as direct action. thank you.
RedRogue · 26-30, M
I’m not an activist but I fermium believe that nature is sacred and that as an American 🇺🇸 it is our duty to preserve our national parks

Most of my activism has been geared towards rights that some humans didn’t or don’t have in my country. I care about the environment and the treatment of animals, reflected in my personal habits and kindness to pets. But that activism I leave to others.
TheOneyouwerewarnedabout · 46-50, MVIP
Hell no.. I’ll burn that tree to cook my cow no sweat
Mellowgirl · 31-35, F
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout I wonder if these activists ever secretly eat what they say they won't as a binge then have to purge and repent?
But that's just one of my very few dark thoughts.

Nah, we're too late to stop the damage. The environmentalist movement failed.
ToastyPickles · T
I care about my pets, which PETA wants to kidnap and kill...
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
Not an activist, but I do believe in humane treatment...of all.
Mellowgirl · 31-35, F
@uncalled4 I hear you...
