Explore why you feel this way. Do you enjoy your work? If not, find something you enjoy and go do that. Are you doing this because you want to or because others expect you to? Change what you don’t like and that includes being hard on yourself and living life on your terms. I can’t tell you how long I lived and felt like that. I wasted a lifetime of being and doing what others expect and being miserable. It isn’t selfish to create a life you love. It makes you better because you do. Why are we trained to accept misery instead of being trained to create a beautiful life? If these are just temporary feelings and you just need a break, take the break, like someone else said it will be there tomorrow. A break will refresh you and give you energy to face what needs to be done. Or go get it done then take a break and do something fun to celebrate a job well done. 🤗

I don't know if this is something you need to hear but you are great even if you haven't been to the gym.

Ahhh you and about 99% of mankind. Why isnt there a better way?
The world is driven by rich peoples desire to buy gold plated Ferarris whilst they own companies paying the minimum wage. There should be laws that declare yes,its good that people can get rich and own businesses, but that some percentages of any profits have to filter into peoples wage packets.
Maybe at the end of the year, the company earned 5 million in profits. They have to share say 10% of profit with employees, that would be 500000.If it employed 10000 people, then each person will receive 500.Which would be a nice bonus at the end of a year.Still leaving the company with 4500000 to pay out in dividends and investment etc.Govts and business WANT us to be poor.

Call in to work and take the day off. Have a road trip. Go explore some quaint little town and have a fun day. Work will still be there tomorrow.

@Musicman As a former manager I have to advise against that, I have seen way too many employees go down dark paths of bad habits once they start doing that, one call out will turn into two, two will turn into five, the no call no shows happen next, I have had to fire way too many people that it became a habit with. I have seen many younger people admitting doing this with "mental health days" in comments regarding school, it becomes a cycle that is hard to break.

@NativePortlander Sadly you are correct. I actually have a friend like that. Management has talked to him a couple of times about it.

@Musicman Hopefully your friend listens and doesn't cop an attitide, so many of them do, they act like they're untouchable and ready to threaten with non existant lawyers when written up.

When I feel like that I have to just remember that a little bit of action helps. Just take that first step out of bed and keep making small steps.

Adulting is highly overrated. Just sleep in, get up when you want, and go treat yourself to a nice lunch at some nearby restaurant!
