Damn. It's a day you always know is going to come, but you never really feel prepared for it. Like how do you even say goodbye to a friend like that?

The main thing we can take comfort in is knowing we tried to give them the best life we could. Nobody lives forever, but as long as the time we shared was meaningful and full of love, we can rest easier knowing they had a good time while it lasted.

@TinyViolins it is so hard to say goodbye. I held her in her final moments but it still doesn't seem like enough.

@SwampFlower It is. I can't even see a fictional dog dying in a show or movie without tearing up. They just love you so much it feels like you can't ever reach that level.

But I'm sure her final moments were spent with the comfort of knowing she was in good hands. It's a peaceful way to go out. I hope I can do the same for my two dogs

@TinyViolins we had an appointment for the morning to have her put down but she decided to come sleep on my lap one last time. she just never woke up. I think she felt loved and safe and I hope it was enough.

@SwampFlower Maybe she knew it was her time and wanted to spend her last moments with you

@TinyViolins I think so. She was adamant about it, like she always was when she wanted attention. I almost even reconsidered the appointment for a minute.
