Were Adam and Eve real people?

Or were they just an example of the first humans on Earth. I know Jesus was a real person, but I'm wondering were Adam and Eve real people? Please give respectful and nice answers. It's either they were or they weren't, no flame.

It doesn't seem to accord with any of the archaeological evidence that they were 'the first people', as far as I can tell.

OTOH I suppose -someone- was the first homo sapiens, and calling the first two Adam and Eve is ... well, one convenient label I suppose.

They were a part of one of the creation myths we humans have created. There are many other creation myths out there ;-)

@FordPrefect42: Probably. But don't forget that this tale/story was made probably when we didn't know much about the Earth, where we came from, etc.

Probably??? Every creation myth I can think of was from a time in history when we definitely didn't know much about the world we live on. The Dogon creation story is the most interesting I think...they tell of life being seeded on this world by a people from a world in the Sirius star system...Sirius C in fact. What's fascinating is we didn't know of Sirius C until just 20 years ago, and the Dogon have been telling the story for thousands of years.

@FordPrefect42: Maybe Jesus made up the story of Adam and Eve. I mean, you can't say someone didn't ask him that question. i could just see him being like "Ummm...Well" Lol!

@1980vim: Even if they weren't real I could understand.

They are part of the creation myth set out in the Bible.
I'm sure there's a lesson to every 'story'...

@theoneyouwerewarnedabout: Yes, I know. Cause if they weren't real then Adam and Eve were just an example. Like there's some things they learned that we learn when we're born.

They are just an allegory.
