What is something you believed for way too long as a child because an adult lied to you?

@uncalled4 Yep. Me too. That hurt me, too, because I think of all the times and all those years I could have been learning about and loving Jesus who's real, instead of some fantasy. I would have been so much closer and I believe my faith would have been so much stronger, if I had been told about Jesus from the very first. But somehow even as little as I was I knew there was a God and I loved him even then when I got old enough to really start thinking about things.

@twistedrope that is really sad. I'm so sorry. That never should happen. You are loved. You may not know or realize that but you are loved more than you will ever know, by your real father, who made you, in heaven. Maybe that doesn't mean much now and that's okay because you are entitled to your own beliefs but I'm just wanting you to know that you are loved by many, including strangers like myself. Everyone deserves to be loved. I bet you don't know that God loves you so much that he has every hair on your head numbered. And he knows exactly every time you lose one. Not trying to preach. I'm just telling you. You need to know that. To him you are more precious than you will ever know, to him.

@LadyGrace I had to correct sorry as it was just... I acknowledge I had no parental love in my life. It was a healthy lie to remove. If I believed my parents loved me, I would perpuate the same coercive controlling neglectful abuse I was subjected to.

But no, I love and give love freely to those of whom I care. And I mean actual love like accepting someone for who they are, letting someone else take the wheel from time to time and being vulnerable and supportive. Easy and practiced at this point.

It is a shame some parents do not love their children. But I am at peace with it. And you are right, everyone does deserve to be loved.

But I believe overall, it is good that you learnt that. Even if it have caused you some thoughts, it is also very sweet in a different way, of a couple adopting a child and making it as seamless and forever, until their final goodbye.

@Boeing I know it was my mother's wish to keep it secret. The only thing I know is she brought me home from the hospital. Apparently in the hospital a couple had a baby that they couldn't keep. That was me. My mother brought me home after she was in the hospital for some kind of surgery. My mother was my cousin's favorite aunt too. She broke her wishes. And she didn't tell me directly. She did it through the gossip train, telling my second wife.
I honestly could have gone to my grave without knowing and been happy with it.
Back in the day they were allowed to put it was my natural birth parents on my birth certificate so there's no record to show anything about me being adopted.

@LadyGrace compared to everything it really isn't even a splinter i just remember thinking i would have appreciated the truth more than something made up.

@Musicman 😭 To me, that tells me how much it hurt her and she really couldn't cope. That's probably why she didn't tell you cuz she didn't want you to be hurt. I think you deserve to know but sometimes people don't always know the right thing to do.

@LadyGrace Thank you for saying that. But I was being Dumb and dumber for past whole week.

Every evening I was going out with my friend and I was hoping we would party but everytime he would take me to a shop and buy something for his home. And I just felt out of place to just walk to the shop and walk back home.

Yesterday I broke this cycle

@DanielsASJ there's nothing wrong with going up with friends but I can imagine I would have felt out of place as well.
