I've been in that state of mind all my life. Only recently have I been able to stand up for myself (last month)
When you care for kids, you're supposed to (encouraged to) let them fight their own battles within reason. It's an important part of them being able to fend for themselves as they grow up.
I never got to fight my own battles as a kid, so not being able to argue or even speak my mind up until recently makes sense.
Did you have the same experience as a kid?

@TheRealBarbossa not ' all of my life' but had a few bad experiences with degenerates a long time ago, being in ' the wrong place at the wrong time ' i was victimised a few times, but then brought a lot on myself with my anger outbursts and behaviour and conduct problems...it's been hard at times, my diagnosis is a personality disorder, i do much better now, all mainly through my own efforts but just get my days where i take things personal & people get to me, not because people are intentionally trying to wind me up, but because i'm getting annoyed by people's actions, but they're not doing it intentionally, just part of trying to manage my personality disorder...the good thing with me though is i have a lot of insight into my condition, so have the capability's of helping myself better.

@TheRealBarbossa well i was once diagnosed with paranoid personality disorder, then it was changed to bpd in 2009. how are you managing now, do you cope better now? i do much better now, i think because of maturity and getting older.

@durinsBane1983 After learning about my diagnosis I found it easier to recognise when I was being avoidant and when I should actually speak up.
It's taken me a good amount of years to learn, but I've finally reached the stage where I'm somewhat comfortable standing up for myself.
