@ScreamingFox Yep I agree. We got sold a fairytale and conditioned to get the degree work, if we want kids be a perfect mum and do everything. It just burns us out. Choice is important and I’m not at all saying women shouldn’t work. Most men though don’t carry their share of the load though and then of course we meltdown and get called crazy etc. I’ve stopped people pleasing especially at work but people don’t really like it that much at work. The older women don’t especially and my male bosses are mostly threatened. The young women though emulate me so I have some hope for the future.
@HijabaDabbaDoo 💯, I think there is a lack of understanding as to why we are seeing so many women and girls diagnosed. It’s hard to explain we were always there we were just missed. I’m going to a conference next year where the focus is on Autistic girls and women.
@Notladylike For sure, it makes sense for women and girls to have taken the back burner in an area that is predominantly led by men but the shift needs to be acknowledged in a way that isn't through a lens of shame or stigma. Let me know how the conference goes!
