Can't remember a specific story, but do remember listening nightly to the latest battle field reports from World War II. Tracking them on maps as they related to last known location of my uncle in European front. The tremendous amount of xenophobia towards Japanese, and Asians in general. Had nightmares of these big, yellow giants stepping over the coastal mountains and coming for us.
The first specific story: FDR's death. The funeral dirges on the radio that pre-empted all broadcasting.
