When supportive words might not be true?

I've read one type message this week two or three times on various social media sites. It is,
"Through all your obstacles, you've gone this far and be proud of how far you've gotten .."

But what if your obstacles have given you affliction like PTSD and you've not really gotten far after several years??? It's a wonderful thought but sometimes we remain stuck after horrible situations, and have not been thriving, as some quotes might relay. 😢

Sometimes people are genuine and you ignore them. That's why I don't come here often anymore. I appreciate people's kindness, but giving kindness to have it bypassed over and over, while people eat up the fake positivity and advice just reminds me we have to take care of ourselves.

I truly cared and nobody owed me a response, but eventually I had to stop putting my heart into others when they would rather, seemingly, not face it truthfully.

@ScreamingFox This wasn't about actual people's words, or when I do or do not reply, there might have been time I can't reply to all replies, but I always acknowledge it with a reaction emoji. I've also replied to yours , and I'm grateful for your generous heart🌹...
It's about when I read wonderful quotes online, it says to "feel good about your growth." In this post I'm referring to only that line. And I feel in a decade I should have been further along. My trauma is extreme so nothing seems to change it, but I'm going to try keep moving towards healing, somehow
A rear-view mirror only shows you what is behind you.
The key to overcoming the obstacles of life is to not treat them as "objects in the mirror that may be closer than they appear" but rather, as something you have passed and grows smaller by the second.
Let things go. Create a path to reach a simple goal that will satisfy you and don't stray off of it.
Every positive step towards achieving it leaves the past where it belongs and your brighter future closer to your grasp.
Works for me...good luck
Some days, all I've been able to do is to keep breathing from one minute to the next. Does that mean I "failed"??? No, it does not, it means that I rested there and breathed - because that's all I could do in that moment.

Mountaineers climb mountains... marathon runners run for miles - both still need to rest and eat. Do they fail??? What if they break a leg and can't walk down to safety??? Is that a failure??? No, the only failure can be death, because that alone means that there is no tomorrow. No way down, no finish line - and no new steps down the road of life for you.

Many of them aren't, they are just a band-aid that doesn't really do anything but cover up the real of it. Some do more harm than good. Mostly I reject them. It takes what it takes, Maybe just try to honor where you are in your process.

Just let it all go.

Don't worry too much about what you may or may not have accomplished, or the past. Or what is expected(unless that is your job and you are paid to care😁), or where people around you might be in their lives.

Just look out for yourself right now. Focus on being calm and at peace, enjoying the beauty in life, glowing with the goodness inside you.

Let the weight be lifted and float away, and lie on the scented grass in springtime with the butterflies. Listen to the water trickle over the nearby brook and feel the breeze tickle your temples. Close your eyes and dream of nirvana.

Ommmm Ommmmm Ommmm.

@JoyfulSilence I guess what I mean is my IDENTITY is low and broken and I wonder if it'll ever thrive or feel good about myself. But I know letting go does mean of everything, so I'll try let go of the identity my mind created years ago. Thank you ☮

@Baybreeze

Invent a new identity.

Be all that you can be.
Get an edge on life.
(yet no need to join the Army🤪).

Or, accept who you are.
You are a good person!
You like flowers and pretty trees.
And passing waterfowl.
Keep on singing!

The one that gets me is what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. To me it says ok i didn't die so why don't I feel stronger? A lot of these quotes have the opposite effect.

@kodiac

That comes from Nietzsche. Who, BTW died in an insane asylum

It’s an attempt to cheer you up, but it’s gone far past a cliche by now
kodiac · 26-30, M
@Baybreeze And when i don't feel like the quote i blame myself

A lot of these quotes have the opposite effect.
Precisely. A lot of nonsense I reject.

They are true, just when you’re in a bad place it’s hard to see. ✨

You can get this book delivered for about $10 from Amazon.
Maybe it helps. Maybe it doesn't.

But for the price of 2 losing MegaMillions tickets, you could find out.
Thrust · 56-60, M
@Baybreeze on eBay it would be half that. Used
Baybreeze · 41-45, F
@Thrust I believe Amazon also has used books for less too. I'll also check eBay, thanks ✨
Thrust · 56-60, M
@Baybreeze ebay usually doesn't charge for shipping
