I’ve always carried a forgiving heart, no matter how big or small the hurt is. It’s just who I am . Forgiving doesn’t mean it didn’t affect me, it just means I’d rather choose peace. Things are already painful enough as they are.

I believe that forgiveness helps you be able to move on, but that doesn't mean you're necessarily forget or give somebody the keys back into your life.
Strongtea · 22-25, M
To be honest, no. I’m pretty bad at actually, really, truly forgiving people. I usually use it against them somewhere down the line.
I need to work on this.
I need to work on this.
robbie2499 · 61-69, F
@Strongtea At least you are self-aware enough to know it's a problem for you and that's half the battle.
enchantedautumn · 31-35, FNew
.I try to no matter how hard it is. But some I just can't because the people I should forgive never change so what is the point?
Rokan · 36-40, M
Forgiveness is about me finding my own peace in the situation. Eventually with time i will find peace but that doesnt mean ill open doors to the same people.
SomeIrishPerson · 31-35, M
Yes. I forgive. That doesn't mean I always forget.
LadyBronte · 61-69, F
Yes, until someone shows me exactly how very little they respect and/or care about me, my feelings, my friendship, or my forgiveness.
peterlee · M
@LadyBronte That is when you have to go the extra mile. It’s very very difficult. I’ve been there. You feel desolate. But that is where your patience, and long suffering will break through.
LadyBronte · 61-69, F
@peterlee No. Not in every case.
tobynshorty · 51-55, F
I will never forgive the man that took the life of my nephew in cold blood. I can’t and won’t.
robbie2499 · 61-69, F
@tobynshorty I wouldn't be able to forgive that either.
Adogslife · 61-69, M
I forgive myself for not forgiving sometimes.
robbie2499 · 61-69, F
@Adogslife I'm not sure is your post is meant to be humorous. Either way, you bring up an interesting point of view; that is forgiving oneself no matter what the circumstance.
Adogslife · 61-69, M
@robbie2499 If I’m not responsible for the circumstances, I’m not going to let it disturb my happiness. If I do the right thing, guilt really doesn’t play a part of things.
Sometimes we’re going to have to make tough decisions that we need to forgive ourselves for. Some things need finality so you don’t spin in a web of negativity.

Generally I am too forgiving when I should be less.
GeistInTheMachine · 31-35, M
I know what you did last summer 🌞.
FreestyleArt · 36-40, M
Yes. But I get aggressive anger at first though where my voice can scare the flesh out of anyone. While their souls listens
peterlee · M
Forgiveness is at the heart of love.
DearAmbellina2113 · 41-45, F

Yeah, some take more time.
Rickichickie · 61-69, F
@Rickichickie errm, only if the person apologizes and means it...
Yes, eventually when it’s the hard stuff…

No, nor should I for certain things. Some things are unforgivable.
ElRengo · 70-79, M
To forgive seems to have several meanings.
But no, not in that wide scale.
But no, not in that wide scale.
Dayman · 31-35, M
Mostly yes in time and from who
Reject · 31-35, M
Yes. As the quote goes, “Holding onto anger is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die.”
NativePortlander1970 · 51-55
@Reject Forgiving them gives them license and permission to do it again and again, over and over.
Reject · 31-35, M
@NativePortlander1970 You don’t have to have anyone in your life. You’re a grown adult and can make your own choices.
It is always easier said than done.
Always forgive but never forget
NativePortlander1970 · 51-55
No, forgiving essentially tells the offender they can do it again.
