@Donotfolowme Years ago, I used to work in a block of offices in a warehouse built in the remnants of an old quarry, a bit remote from the rest of town. At the time, the computer I used at work, as well as the Internet connection in the office, was much better than what I had at home, so I would often stay late and play games. (No one cared.)
I was there one weekend and got engrossed in a game so much that I was there until about 3 a.m. I wasn't done with the game, but I figured it was 3 a.m., so I probably should go home.
No one else was in the building; there was never any reason for anyone to be there on the weekends. I walked down the long main corridor from my office to the main doors.There were only the most minimal lights on in the hallways, and it was fairly dark.
As I passed by a dark cross hallway, I heard something down that way. Something that growled.
Was it an animal? Could be; we were kind of in the woods that had grown up in the quarry. But I was unaware of any animals getting into the building before, certainly not the office block.
Was it something else? No idea.
I didn't run, but I did walk smartly out the building, got in my car and went home.
