That I was adopted. I found out when I was 45 against my mother's wishes who had passed away because a big mouth rumor mongering cousin who couldn't keep her mouth shut. My adopted parents are shown as my natural parents on my birth certificate because of the way things were done then. I was taken home from the hospital I was born in. There is no record of my actual parents and I really don't care. I couldn't have asked for better parents but since my big mouth cousin is not blood she is welcome to go to hell. Breaking my mother's will she has no idea how that made me review specific incidents and by whom in my life.

@Gibbon I'm sorry you had to go through that.
Almost all adoptions these days are open, meaning that the biological family has some sort of connection/communication with the adoptive family because we recognized that it is the right of the child to at least know their biological background.
Also because this is not something you can hide these days with DNA tests like 23andme, ancestry..etc being so readily available. So most adopted children these days I've seen always knew they're adopted, just like how they just know their name.

@LadyInBlack I only know, according to an aunt I asked, that I was born to a young French Canadian couple in the same hospital my mother was having a procedure. For whatever reason the couple gave me up and I was adopted at the time and my parents recorded as my natural parents. That's all I know. I never took interest in DNA testing or trying to find out more about them. It's not important to me and won't change anything.

When was just becoming an adolescent my mom dragged me off to church for one of the very last times I'd put up with it before I shared that story of literally jumping out of the Van to avoid being dragged back to another meeting with the witnesses and scraping my knee but One of the last times I went I ran into a Sister Garcia and remembered this bully of a classmate I Had that non-stop trash talked the witnesses and noticed they had the same last name and asked Sister Garcia if they were related and of course, Naive to the Drama between us, she told me. confirming the suspicon about Cara Garcia (Not the other Cara that died on me that I sometimes talk about, The bully is just someone else who unfortunatey had the same name)
She swore me to secrecy but I found out later on that she unleashed hell on one of my best friends, a girl in the locker rooms, potentially crossing the line into sexual harassment, molestation, etc. All in a gambit to get at me through my friends.
Completely deranged. Had obsessive enemies as a kid. Fortunately, I got out of town and forgotten about. I never told a soul, but she was still pissed I found out.

@PDXNative1986 the jehovah witnesses are quite evil people. I've no time for them. My ex sister-in-law left them and lost everything. It took years before she could see her kids again.

@meggie I maintain Garcia was, correct about that much, even if a vicious bully. In other words, Agreed. Fully.

That my best friend and my boyfriend in high school hooked up while I was gone for the summer. I found out by accident when my best friend came over for a sleep over when I got back. And then my boyfriend called me...and SHE looked so horrified and guilty and HE wanted to know what SHE had told me...and then I KNEW something was going on. I pretended to each one that the other had told me. And finally my boyfriend admitted it to me.

The strict old victorian granny who raised me didnt give birth prematurely like she led everyone to believe. She had a 9lb healthy baby 6 months after her wedding.
LadyInBlack · 18-21, F
@meggie Damnnn, well at least the biological father is the one she married right? 😅
meggie · F
@LadyInBlack yes she'd only dated him for a couple of months. However, they stayed together and had 4 kids.

It's something that happened to a close friend of mine. He has never told me, and I will never reveal that I know it. Maybe some day he'll mention it, but for now it'll stay secret.

When my dad was stationed in Germany before I was born, he wanted to send Mom and my sisters home to the states and he wanted to stay with the German girlfriend he had there.

Not even my eldest sister ever found out. Despite her dislike for me. And it was about her.

Hmm Idk, I know there are some but I've probably forgotten them.
Although I know things that would shock others just from my instinctive detective mindedness. I can be like a bloodhound.

That my grandmother never loved my Grandfather, despite having five kids with him and 48 years together before his death in 1992, that she always had feelings for another guy that barely tolerated her.
