@LadyBronte I really liked the qualities you listed, it seemed perfect, so I just wrote the same thing as you. now that I think about it some more I must say that since compassion can sort of overlap with kindness I would keep kindness and add intelligence. it surely doesn't make someone a saint but I do appreciate smart people, I am lucky to be surrounded by really smart people. after 50 years on this planet I have collected some exceptionally smart friends and acquaintances.

@reflectingmonkey I agree, but I think I would break my own rules and just add a 4th. Intelligence is a must.

@LadyBronte well, its because for sure the values you noted are fundamental and I wouldn't let anyone close to me who don't share these values but when I think of what makes me want to befriend someone or not, intelligence is definitely a criteria.
