Remember what this weekend is actually for.

Its not about the 3 day weekend for some.
Its not about a bbq with your family and friends
Its not about traveling
Its not about beer and burgers
Its not about the beaches
Its not about spending time by the pool
Its not about the picnic at the park.

Its about those who gave all to keep us in a country that is a bit safer.
It is about having empathy for the families who are being missed this weekend and everyday.
Its about the sacrifice that brave and woman gave because they believed in fighting for your right to be safe in your own home.

Renumber to take a moment to thank the brave men and woman who gave all and never asked for anything in return.

Renember to be kind to those who are struggling a bit more this weekend.

Remember land of the free, because of the brave.

AMEN.

There’s a park a few blocks from where we live, and in the park is a memorial for servicemen and women from the county.
My wife was surprised to find “my” name on it, but I had a cousin with the same name as I have who served in the Marines in Vietnam. He was 5 years older than I, but he never lived to be the age I am now.
There are a lot of other names on the memorial, and each one of them was a military casualty.
Memorial Day is to honor those who gave their lives in service to their country....as a veteran who survived, I salute them.

I visited a friend I served with in the National Cemetery in Chatanooga TN. I had driven by National Cemeteries before but at 55 I actually walked through and looking out upon row after row of gravestones I was humbled. I am very patriotic, can cry during the national anthem, but that walk really choked me up to realize how truly blessed my life has been. Thanks to all the veterans for their service, I appreciate you all.

Well said. Thank you.
I missed the draft by one number back in 1971 or i would have had to fight in Vietnam.
Back then, all men had to register for the draft when you turned 17 yrs old. And if our country was involved in a world war, you would have to serve if you were needed...you had no choice...with very few exceptions.
Most men my age and older will reflect this weekend on the decisions they had to make in their late teenage years when serving our country.
