I'm conflicted about auditioning for a role in a musical

I've wanted to get back to performing again as it's been two years since I last stood on a stage of any kind. I was supposed to perform at a small music festival this summer, but it got cancelled, so I've been a bit bummed out.

But today, someone told me about this audition for one of the main roles in a musical I love to bits.
I really want to audition, if only just to have done SOMETHING this year, but I'm nervous about the possibility of getting the role and crashing it.

I don't think the role is suited for me...
Oh, but it's one of my favorites...
There's a very small chance that I'll get it...
But I might get it and screw everyone over...
But I'll regret not trying, at least...
Isn't that what acting is? Taking a role you aren't suited for and making it yours?

@Mamapolo2016 Yes, but I've always been more of a singer than an actress 😅🙈 the other musical roles I've had have been close enough to my mannerism that I wouldn't have to worry about it too much.

Try to live life so you'll have no regrets... so go ahead, do it!! It'll be fun, even in the trying.🙂

That last line..."But I'll regret not trying, at least" says it all. Go for it.

Just sleep with the director.

That's how it's done in Hollywood.

You should go for it! I’m sure you’re gonna be great!

Close your eyes...take the leap 🤗

You know you'd rather try and then day no to the role later...than keep regretting not going. 💙
