Gamers, what motivates you to play a game like "The Sims"?

I don't play it much. It gives me existential crises. But it can be fun. I like gardening and collecting interesting things, especially in sims 4. But I also just love optimizing my sins lives, and it gives me ideas on how to do the same irl.

@boklenholley7 what do you mean by existential crises?
@scooogy I try to get my sims to learn lots of things like I do irl, but they can't learn everything; it's not realistic, so they grow old and die without ever accomplishing anything. Sims makes me realize life is short, and I can't do everything I want, so I have to pick before I get too old and die. That's anxiety-inducing for me.

@boklenholley7 that's interesting. What makes you think you should learn all these things?
@scooogy 🤷‍♀️ I'm really interested in a lot of things, and I have almost an obsession with becoming self sufficent, so I love the idea of learning skills so I don't have to hire/depend on other people (like basic repairs, plumbing, whatever) but I'm also the type that loves to go down the rabit hole and learn everything about a subject. Become an expert. It's not realistic to do that for everything that I really want to.

@boklenholley7 as an engineer, I often try to rely on things already existing.
@scooogy and that's a bit more rational. I just want to it all myself xD
