Gamers, what motivates you to play a game like "The Sims"?

SW-User
Because building is fun. It lets me be an architect and interior decorator instead of a pre-med student, lol

SW-User
@scooogy Not really. I'm not going to live in houses like these ever, and they're also not really my style. I just make them because I like the process.

@SW-User Is it something like being responsible for making plans?
SW-User
@scooogy Nope. I just enjoy building. That's it. It ain't that deep, lol.
Simulation and pretending to have a life or to pretend to be female lol I did that in GTA5 a few times or in Saints Row 4

@PiecingBabyFaceTogether you mean you let the people in that game live situations which you craved for yourself to have?
@scooogy Yes. Same with Euro truck simulator 2.
I don't play it much. It gives me existential crises. But it can be fun. I like gardening and collecting interesting things, especially in sims 4. But I also just love optimizing my sins lives, and it gives me ideas on how to do the same irl.
@scooogy 🤷‍♀️ I'm really interested in a lot of things, and I have almost an obsession with becoming self sufficent, so I love the idea of learning skills so I don't have to hire/depend on other people (like basic repairs, plumbing, whatever) but I'm also the type that loves to go down the rabit hole and learn everything about a subject. Become an expert. It's not realistic to do that for everything that I really want to.

@boklenholley7 as an engineer, I often try to rely on things already existing.
@scooogy and that's a bit more rational. I just want to it all myself xD

@poisonouscupcake for reasons of bad experiences?
poisonouscupcake · 22-25, F
@scooogy just a bad life tbh

I can’t play something like that for long before I get depressed at the thought of dictating someone’s eating, sleeping and socializing 👁
scooogy · 31-35, MVIP
@CrustyDDingus I think in "The Sims 2" it was possible to just let the people in there do what they liked, like randomly.

If I ever play, I go and create people I know. And see how accurately their stats and character profile line up to living with that of the actual people I know.
A damn Internet connection - can't play without one!!! 🤬 😡
