Why do people belittle retail workers?

It's the truth. People will treat you like shit and you still have to "tend" to their needs while they continue to belittle you. It's very difficult to find a job that works well with my school schedule and pays me the pay I'm getting now. 😕

@hunkalove: 😂😂 they always pull the "how stupid do you have to be" card. But honestly if they were on the other side I'm sure they'd be the "stupid" ones. Everyone should work in retail atleast once in their life and understand how it is to deal with shitty people like themselves.

@NearMiss: Later, I told some coworkers what happened and they said the guy did that a lot, finding a new employee at a register and creating a problem, belittling them and causing trouble. I was also told his wife had died recently and his grief had turned to anger. In any case, I never saw him again.

And wasn't Xmas a barrel of fun? I used to say, if you want to see the worst of human nature, especially American human nature, work in retail during the holidays!

@hunkalove: yup. I used to work on Christmas. They come in just to complain at you even though they have never met you. I worked customer service and a woman came in and she wanted a refund but she didn't have a receipt and I was told you can't give refunds if you don't have a receipt, so I told her so. She went mental. Went down to the back of the store to get where the item she had wanted a refund on and dragged the whole shelf along with her. She must of thought I would care but I thought it was hilarious. The manager came over and she kept telling the manager I wouldn't give her a refund and I got wrong for it, even though the manager said don't give refunds without receipt. I left there.

Retail workers dress like pigs?!

Lol. So that's a reason to belittle them?
