My wife has a cooler last name than me so a lot of times I use hers for restaurant reservations, etc...it's just easier! (she kept hers btw).

That’s an individual decision that we all have to make. It’s up to you to do what’s right for you.

I did the 1st time and took my maiden name back when we divorced. When I got married to current husband I kept my maiden name. I don't see any reason why you should have to if you didn't want to.
In my case I didn't want my son to feel he was the only one with a different last name even though ours didn't match because he had his father's last name we became the house of P, H and T not just all P's and one T.

You don’t really have to. It’s part of your identity.

I would Guess that it shows a unity of both persons by sharing the same last name. But taking the other persons last name or not or hyphenating both really matters not; it should be about the love and respect that you have for each other, or don't marry!

I certainly did!

You can do as you wish

Because... you love them?
Because... they love you?
Why marry at all then?

@veghard if she aint married by 30 she could forget human names and start thinking about naming her 60 cats
PrettyLesley · 31-35, F
@MarmeeMarch Don't worry, I've been a spinster with cats since I was 20.
veghard · 36-40, M
@PrettyLesley Yes, when you marry they ask you: husband takes wife's name or vice versa, or nothing.

Can't say that I blame you. What about your kids? What name would you give them?
PrettyLesley · 31-35, F
@quitwhendone I can't imagine myself having kids, but I guess they could hyphenate our names.
quitwhendone · M
@PrettyLesley Cool, but after a few generations of doing that, the names would be crazy long.
PrettyLesley · 31-35, F
@quitwhendone It's up to them.
You could take it, but you should give it back if he asks.
PrettyLesley · 31-35, F
@FrogManSometimesLooksBothWays Does Lesley Logan sound alright to you?
MarmeeMarch · M

Nothing wrong with that if you both agree
