Why does my sister put me down

In a sort of subtle way, not just but my kids too. Then, she has so many questions, I just wonder why she wants to know so much. I don’t understand because I am busy with my life to focus on someone else’s life.
I try to stay away from her but she’s my only sister.

SHe's probably suffering from low self esteem, and tries to remedy that by pulling other people down, instead of building herself up.... or she could be jealous of what you've got.... or both?? ... or something else completely different.. :)

@Love4All Well I KNOW my sister is aware of her actions, 😡I avoid her phone calls and all has been peaceful for the past 3 years this month since I put my foot down!

@Peaches I’m really hoping she works on her issues, she has so much anger and I’ll point it out to her next time. She always does it in front of our kids and for their sake I haven’t said anything. She knows it. And also it takes me by surprise but I need to change my perspective, I’ll be expecting it and will say something, calmly.

@Love4All Yes, staying calm is important or she will only hear the anger.😔

My sister is 5 years older than I and has been in competition with me all of our lives. She is still a pia but she is my sister, my only sibling.

I'm 64 and my older sister has always put me down. Growing up was a misery and even now we rarely speak.

@SW-User I'm glad mine left the state. She's a user and abuser. She only calls when she wants something. Out of the blue she called to say she was coming to Oregon (she needs a free place to stay) and I just hung up. It's been blissful since she left!😌

My sister was so mean to me that I finally cut the cord!😉
That’s really unfortunate when it’s a family member. I have a sibling who is mentally ill, has stolen from just about all of us, is narcissistic and resentful that we subsequently distrust her. Our parents enable her to some degree because she is the mother of their only living grandchild and she milks that for all it’s worth.

@bijouxbroussard You don't have kids? That's a pity. There should be more of you! .. :) 🥰
@walabby Aww, thanks. I had a son once, but he’s gone.

@bijouxbroussard Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that... :'(

I am not close with my only sibling my brother. Perhaps because I moved away from the family. Just. Different lives. I don’t dislike him but just no connection either

I think immediate family in general are like that sometimes
my sister is 4 years older and still thinks she is looking after me lol. But i know she loves me and she wants the best for me so i just put up with her ways

Maybe she is jealous?
