I suppose you need to stop and think about what keeps you attached. Is it only love or is it a fear you cannot find other love after this? Is there something that keeps you pulled in, be it feeling like you have a place to live, nowhere else to go, or even just really good sex?
It is possible to love someone yet not be with them. It is difficult, yes. But self reflecting on what prevents that step away when you know it needs to happen is the first hurdle.

Sounds like you might love who you wish he was and mourning the loss of a life you hoped to have.

@OlderSometimesWiser you're on point it hurts so much
@Sixlivesdiaries66 I’m really sorry, I know how much these things can hurt. Be gentle and patient with yourself, try some healthy distractions, give it time and hopefully the pain will start to subside.

When you get stuck, sometimes a short sharp whack is required

Best way to get over someone is to get under someone else.

Don't blame your feelings just because of a bad relationship.
Your feelings will always be apart of yourself. No matter what.
That doesn't mean you can't change your situation though.
Believe it or not there are many types of relationships. Each with their own types of feelings...
And that is just the greek forms of love. Not even a partial list of feelings.

I don't blame you how you feel , a lot of women like you go through this issue . Alot of men are not perfect and they make a lot of bad choices . I am sorry you have to suffer .

let it out daily, in private or out loud, you have the strength don;t you!
I realized after 6-7 years that he wasn't going to change. He wasn't even who he said he was. Some of these men are so delusional it's practically believable when they're being sweet. But you know the patterns. Did they ever change?
If the relationship involved a push pull dynamic...that turns into an addiction which can be mistaken for love

it's complicated you're probably attached/addicted to other aspects of him not that sadly 😬 complex personalities and such.. but you are probably better off away from them if they are bad/cruel to you.. but i guess you know that already..
If you want to detach from a toxic relationship you have to see it for what it was and not what you wanted it to be. The good times were the lie, the bad times were the truth. It is not that you weren't good enough, there was no amount of good enough that could have fixed that relationship. Any feelings of love connected to that relationship were not love, they were toxic addiction. Love doesn't feel like you want to sing one minute and die the next. Love feels consistent, safe and secure.
Let it go. It was never good, he was never good. You did you best and you can hold your head up high.
