I think the saddest thing is how people fade from your life, not with a bang, but with a quiet absence you barely notice until it’s complete.

kinda sounds like me and my family (aunts uncles and cousins) overseas in europe... i only have a brother here but i don't think we'll fade. but i wish i could reconnect with my overseas family...i haven't seen them in 30 years...heard from some when i had to tell some when my parents passed though

Or you could be like me and you do notice every inch of the step taken backwards, as you try to lessen the gap by stepping forward. Only to end up feeling like a fool knowing you were the only one trying to keep the distance minimal. That’s even more sad.
@PerfectionOfTheHeart it is, you're right. And I've been there.
Yes it is sad, I've never been good at keeping friendships. That's on me though

That’s deep bestie 🥺
It’s sad how true this statement is tho 😔

I have always been the one to maintain connections. When too one-way for too long, I cut 'em off.
@Neoerectus very smart

So true 😥

yup, I am always the initiator of messages, and as soon as I stop, people just fade out of my life
Mudkip · 31-35, M
It happens. From texting someone daily, to every other day, to eventually fading away into distant memories.

I think the transient nature of everything is what makes it beautiful.
Yeah😥

But i think its better than with a huge horrible bang. Bangs are stressful and consuming.
Fades are just latently sad. Which still hurts.... they just arent as messy.
@OogieBoogie yeah, the bangs are overwhelming
C'mere Bx!🥰😍💜
That is very true...

But also, historically that might be better than knowing the British are coming.

Thats how I’ll disappear someday.
So subtle you’ll never even know when I’ve vanished.
@Captainjackass don't say that, brat
Convivial · 26-30, F
Still better than the convulsive Bang type of departure...
@Convivial true. Not so much devastation
Convivial · 26-30, F

Degbeme · 70-79, M
