I just got a message on instagram

from someone asking if they could use my pics for “mural art”. They also added they would pay me for this. I think it’s a scam 😒

I got a message on whatsapp claiming they were Michael Stars agent (or maybe it was Anthony Star? I don't remember)
They wanted to get in touch with me for a business proposal 🤣

@BarbossasHusband I got a follow request from Jennifer Aniston! Finally!

@BarbossasHusband Finally people are seeing your worth.
It’s a scam. Don’t provide any personal email or account number with your full name.

@CookieCrumbs that's something you never do - you will get burnt.

It's like sending a nude with your face showing to a stranger

Makes a change from my usual... They usually want ME to pay THEM to use my pictures on their Instagram feed.

Yes, like the time it takes me to locate (and sometimes buy) Dutch (in this case) coins, then provide adequate appropriate storage for them and put the time and effort into getting the best photo I can in the first place isn't worthy enough.

I mean, sheesh, it's not the easiest thing to get high quality pictures of shiny coins without glare from the flash reflecting off the coins at the best of times - and I do have other materials that I would like to buy so that other people can better enjoy my coin collection, too.

Nope... I usually block them now because they clearly don't appreciate how much time and effort goes into my collection and photography.

Never click on any links either, they can hijack your account. Happens to many of my friends in businesses.
So many scammers there and instagram are terrible at trying to get your account back.

Are they in a position where they could just use the pics anyway even if you say no? If yes then asking them to send you the pay via paypal or something secure like that couldnt hurt could it? maybe they will pay you
Vengabus · 36-40
@HootyTheNightOwl paypal is supposed to be secure, you just do it via a link. They either send the money to you or they don't. They can't access anything of yours through the link
@Vengabus Maybe not - but scammers still run overpayment scams through PayPal... if you already suspect that something is a scam, why would you engage it and open yourself up to potentially being scammed???
Vengabus · 36-40
@HootyTheNightOwl there's no need for extra question marks lol. i don't disagree with caution. its just that not everything is a scam
ive never heard of overpayment scams tho. wha's that?

Ask for their info you'd need for your invoice that you'll send to them. 👀

Scam, my daughter had a similar offer.

@Matt85 How giving someone your bank account number can endanger you? What can they do with it?
