I Can't Sleep

I lay awake at night, endlessly thinking about my every little decision I make, contributing towards my future. I'm growing up. A world FULL of opportunities awaits me, waiting for me take the leap forward. But something stops me and what befuddles me the most of all is I can't quite place what that something is. Some form of irrational fear of making all my decisions on my own? I can't be sure. However what I do know is I cannot withstand another sleepless night, stuck in my own mind, wondering which road to take.

All that you felt is normal. It's part of the maturation process. So when you feel anxious, remember to focus on your breathing and that should calm you down a bit. And what should also calm you down is knowing that you will, slowly, figure things out. Here are a couple of quotes to help you:

"If you obsess over whether you are making the right decision, you are basically assuming that the universe will reward you for one thing and punish you for another. The universe has no fixed agenda. Once you make any decision, it works around that decision. There is no right or wrong, only a series of possibilities that shift with each thought, feeling, and action that you experience."
-Deepak Chopra

"Let yourself be open and life will be easier. A spoon of salt in a glass of water makes the water undrinkable. A spoon of salt in a lake is almost unnoticed."

You're welcome. And what you wrote is very wise. My best advice to you is just live and try to enjoy life and when life gets you down, just roll with it, and when things are good, enjoy those good times. And just learn, always learn, whatever lessons life teaches you. And keep moving on. And in doing all that, you will get to where you need to go.

Wow Ssmile thank you! I was having a bit of a rough morning with regards to me worrying. Reading those quotes really put some things into perspective for me. I have to constantly remind myself I am going through something completely normal and with time, things will fall into place and I will know what I want in life. Or that's what I am hoping.

It's definitely time to pick one and make a play for it, sometimes you have to live with your decision and sometimes you can correct it later on. Can you share a little more, is it about choosing a career path?

Trying to decide on a major is scary. Everyone expects me to know who I am and what I want to do with my life. And I have little to no clue.

If you have the time, check out Buzz Aldren's Something For Everybody. And actually listen. I wish I did when I was your age.

All easier said than done my friend. Chances of picking the wrong "road" are uncomfortably high.
