How do you deal with anticipatory grief?

The anxiety, depression and antipsychotic meds that I'm on have helped me not hyper-fixate on such things now. This wasn't always the case in my past and anticipatory grief was a big struggle for me. I used to suffer some pretty grim thought loops and threw myself into feeling grief WELL before anyone/pet/thing had even been 'lost'.

Just push it out of your mind and enjoy the time left. No cure for death unfortunately

Appreciate right now and feel the pain and sadness

Isn't that just being alive?

@DunningKruger no, it's knowing that someone doesn't have a lot of time left 😔

@Fishy We all only have so much time left. We're all ticking down. Yes, it gets worse when someone we care about is obviously getting close to the end, and that hurts. But it's true for all of us, and all we can do is learn to accept it while we're still here to do so.
