I’m feeling anxious, like I might get fired.

As some of you already know, I recently got hired for my first job (about two weeks ago), but because of all the holidays, today is only my 6th actual working day.

I’ll keep some details vague.

In these 6 days, I was given 4 projects—basically all about making programs fetching data from some where. Out of 4 main tasks, I’ve only managed to finish one. The rest I couldn’t properly test because of limited resources. For example, I can only run a few tests per day, and I don’t have full permissions to access all the data I need.

It’s really frustrating. I want to do more, but I feel stuck. I’m worried they’ll think I’m slacking or underperforming and fire me, even though I’m trying my best.

Why not get ahead of any potential problems and talk to your boss about the situation?

@OlderSometimesWiser I actually told them about it, and they said they’d provide me with more of the resource. But as of now, I still don’t have it. That’s why I got anxious today—I feel like I didn’t get much done.
@DustyPotato Follow up, good way to show that you’re responsible and care about getting the job done.

@DustyPotato some companies feel like the person before you did it with no problems or extra resources. So that would frustrate me too. I would be sending out my resume to other companies just in case. I would do my best and continue working and if they fire you collect unemployment. Be prepared! Send it out to atleast 3 companies a week. I have atleast 2 job offers a week. But for now im content where i am. I just keep all the info of everyone who calls. I called 1 company almost a year later and they hired me. I said last year you offered me a job unfortunately i was already employed but im very interested if you have any openings available. They said come in!
