The English women footballers are not 'lionessess'. They are just some females who like kicking a ball around.

There is a lot of hysteria about the female world cup right now. I will not get into the person life choices that culminated in a gaggle of women who like to wear comfortable shoes and perhaps not pay much attention to their hair adhere to such a novelty hobby.

And I am not saying that young ladies should be prohibited from engaging in non productive, silly and traditionally masculine hobbies.

However, I do think the media should be careful about how they promote females in sports. Young ladies growing up these days have a hard enough time because there are so many negative influences about. I think it is ok to promote the female world cup, but only if they ramp up the novelty/freak show aspect of it, because ultimately, watching females playing football is akin to watching down syndrome people compete in chess competitions. Then the proceedings will be a cautionary lesson to all malleable young ladies who are watching.

Our aussie Matildas are one hot bunch! Super talented and they don't need any 'sugar coating' to make them legitimate. They are genuine, honest, hard-working young women who have proven themselves in their own right and they should be honoured and rewarded.
