Why I feel scared to be hopeful and happy ?

I feel something bad might happen if I start to be happy.

It sounds incredibly hard to carry that fear around, and I’m really sorry you’re feeling it so strongly. When life has taught you to brace for impact, even small moments of happiness can feel risky. That doesn’t mean you’re broken, it means you’ve been trying to protect yourself for a long time, and that takes a lot of strength.

You don’t have to sort through that feeling on your own. If you ever want to talk about what makes happiness feel unsafe, or what you’re afraid might happen, I’m here to listen and help you make sense of it at your own pace.
It's from trauma and hypervigilance. You learn to believe that you don't deserve to be happy, and/or if you are happy, it's because you missed something.

It's only a trick of the mind. You deserve to be happy.

Better to be happy until or unless something bad happens.
Not good to go through months or years not allowing yourself to be happy.
Be happy now, and deal with whatever comes along.
Might not be as bad as you imagine.

wait so you have the ability to be happy with the snap of your fingers and you choose not to?
sahi81 · 26-30, F
@MartinTheFirst yes. I feel scared to be happy even when I have every opportunity to be happy.

@sahi81 if feelings of happiness are that close to you, then i'd say you're already happy, you're just having other feelings ontop of it. That's great to hear.
