Star is really struggling

As you could imagine Star is really having a hard time right now. She's so mad and confused. She told me this morning that she didn't think she wanted to go to the hospital to see him today. She just wants to have a nice day and enjoy the birthday party.

I'm not a smart guy. I don't know what to tell her. I don't blame her. It's hard seeing him like this. I think she just needs time to process. I hope.

Star is hurt. Hurt by what her father tried to do.

Your buddy is actually extremely selfish. I know that seems mean to say it, but he was ready to ABANDON his daughter and just leave her behind to cope for herself, and support herself, and put herself through college all alone, and never see her on her wedding day, and never dance with her at her wedding, and never be there to meet his own grandchildren.

YOU know a lot about what it feels like to be abandoned by your parents. That's an incredible wound to sustain. She feels like her father does NOT love her...because if he did, how or WHY would he try to leave her????

People who are deeply depressed sometimes DO have their heads right up their own behinds. It's all about ME ME ME ME ME.. and what THEY are feeling...never giving a moment's thought to what they are doing to the people who love them.

So I would give Star PLENTY of slack. AND it might be a good idea for HER to talk to a therapist about what her Dad tried to do.
