How can I stop being upset about dumb things that don't really matter?

I don't want to care. It's not a big deal. But I can't help it.

Today, my dad turned our internet off and I got really sad. I like routine and we just moved, so it was completely gone.

I'm weird. I don't know why.
I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but do you think you are on the autism spectrum?
My brother has autism and he feels the same way you do. It might sound silly to us, but to him, those small things are very large.
You're not weird. You're just you.
@Manfredthemanic He's 18 and the most amazing boy in the world.

@lauriethecolourful I love my brother a lot as well. Brothers are cool.
@Manfredthemanic I bet he loves you too because you seem very easy to love.

AND...remember books. I used to escape to wonderful fantasy and sci-fi novels when I had no internet.

@Fluffybull You do it too? What do you watch?
Unfortunately, I don't have a tv in my room. I'm not sure if I will have a good sleep tonight.

@Manfredthemanic I don't have a TV either but you don't need one if you get a portable dvd player. The screen is smaller than a TV but it's ok. You can take it in the car too 😊 I watch films and my favourite box sets. During lockdown I went through whole series, one after the other 😆 It was like having old friends there 👍

@Fluffybull Like a little one? Does it need internet?
That's cool. 😊 What is your favourite TV series?
Yes, it does feel like an old friend patting my head until I Fall asleep.

@SW-User Yes, me too, but I can't find anything else that is more important in the moment.

@SW-User It's good that you found something to help you with your emotions. 😊

I think the internet is a big deal for young people. When it goes off in my house, my kids all emerge from their bedrooms.

There is always going to be things we can’t control and disruptions to routines and you just have to find a way that you can go with the flow and adapt to the change. Think of it as the change is good - almost like a challenge for you. Don’t think of the change as a bad thing
Manfredthemanic · 16-17, M
@Jenny1234 Yes, but we need it for a lot of things like school.
I know there is and I want to handle those things like a normal person without crying or having a panic attack. I just don't know how.

@Manfredthemanic well there are exercises you can do to calm yourself down. Deep, slow breaths. There is also a great YouTube channel by Suki Baxter and she teaches you have to calm anxiety with the vagus nerve method. Meditation can really help you as well.
Manfredthemanic · 16-17, M
@Jenny1234 Yes, I do watch Youtube to calm myself down, but I can't without internet!
Breathing exercises don't really help me, but I don't know if I am doing it right.

[image deleted]@Manfredthemanic No, you don't need the internet. Its battery is rechargeable and lasts about 3 hrs or you can just plug it into the mains. I can also play CDs. It was about £50, I think that's about €58? My favourite series is probably "House" 😊
Manfredthemanic · 16-17, M
I'm sorry. @Fluffybull Do you want to go on one?
Fluffybull · F
@Manfredthemanic No need to apologise! 😊 No, I've never wanted to fly......✈️😱😱
Manfredthemanic · 16-17, M
@Fluffybull Ohhhh. My mum is afraid of flying as well, and she always holds my hand really tight when the plane is landing and taking off.

You are fine, not weird. Others are just like you... needing a fixed routine or having a bit of a melt down when routine is changed. What matters to you is important and not dumb. We shouldn't all try to be the same and we can't all care about the same things.
You're okay... as you grow a little older, you may even start to deal better with changes in routine... I know someone who is quite a bit like you and now... changes and all don't bother him so much. :)
Manfredthemanic · 16-17, M
@SW-User I know, but I just don't want anyone to think I'm spoilt and having a tantrum. It's different.
My mum told me the same thing. That I would get a little better with my emotions when I'm older, but I don't know.
Thank you for being kind. 😊

With ear worms. Get a song stuck in your head and you will be too busy listening to the song play over and over to worry about dumb things that don't really matter - I suggest the song Taking Care Of Business by BTO. Cheers!
Manfredthemanic · 16-17, M
@Nanoose Okay. Thank you. 😊
