Does people really ask other SW members for money?

Someone told me today a lot of people on here asks him for money - I was very surprised!! I know of one other person that gave people on EP money but did not realize it was a common theme on here!! Any thoughts or personal experiences?

I asked a similar question a while back and almost every man who left a comment had either been asked for money (or some other type of assistance) or had offered someone help...usually the someone "in need" presented themselves as a female.

If it happened on EP, it's happened here.
It's mostly all the same people.

There are a few who ask.... there used to be someone offering money to people on EP. I forget the details but it was an obvious dcam.
I would never be so generous on SW. I'm not that sort of fool.

I've had 4 of them in the last week alone. It is quite common and the patterns are similar. When I asked one why they send me messages from multiple accounts they deleted their account. I can't believe it actually works but it seems to be growing rapidly.

I don't have any stories posted on my profile but I was considering writing a story about this because it is growing.

@TwinklelilStar, The other angle I'm seeing a lot of lately is prostitution. I know you ladies get all sorts of crazy things in your inbox. Guys do to but it is a different kind of crazy.

Yes they do. It has probably been 50-50%. About half the time I've initiated a conversation and about half the time I receive the initial PM.

There is a pattern to the conversations as well. They start out innocent enough but it isn't long before the true intent is obvious. The writing patterns are the same as well.

Pink has pointed out some obvious fakes in the threads, but go to the people list at the top and just browse the female profiles. You will see obvious similarities all the way down to the groups chosen.

It wouldn't surprise me if less than 50% of the female profiles on this site are actually females or "real" in any way at all.

Yes, and I have given some away.... I have said no many more times. The women that ask always seem to say they are in Africa. I don't know why but that's where they seem to be.

One person was a college student.. having a hard time working two jobs. she didn't ask. I volunteered. It was my way of paying it forward.. and there was nothing sexual about it.. no nude pics etc. I agree most of the time its scammers but on two occasions I thought I was really helping someone...

Maybe it was more for me that the other person...

@TwinklelilStar: it wasn't my gut that allowed me to give everything I have, it was my lack of education and wisdom. When you get in touch with your intuition(gut), that mixed with experience and education you still give but not so freely. Nor to people that are professionals at using and taking. :)

I suspect certain people are easier targets. Older men may be targeted (and no im not discriminating but my conversations on here with others seems to indicate it is mostly younger girls asking older men for money or guys pretending to be girls that ask men for money. Or people intentionally form an emotional connection with someone and then play victim. Also people that indicate they are wealthy or like to help others. I am not saying it is wrong to help people financially - but i think people abuse it on here.
