The “god” concept is a near-insulting over-simplification of the actual nature of the universe. To think that some white-robed, bearded guy rules over everything and gives a shit who you sleep with, what you do in that bed or what you eat is silly beyond words.
walabby · M
@redredred Totally agree!
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@redredred I don't often find myself agreeing with you, but when I do, I really do.
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@redredred The only thing silly is the person who describes a painting in a church as to what Yahweh actually looks like. Here is a clue. The God named Yahweh has the entire universe within Him. Doesn't exactly sound like some old guy with a beard.

Where's your evidence, Red, where are the facts to support what you say is true?
redredred · M
@GodSpeed63 They’re right there. Right behind your god crap facts.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@GodSpeed63 Where's your evidence for YOUR claims?

@redredred @LordShadowfire
Where's your evidence for YOUR claims?

You guys have nothing like I figured. The truth remains that God lives and His Word is True.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@GodSpeed63 So, now all of a sudden the burden of proof is on the person who doesn't believe the positive claim without evidence? The entire scientific community would like a word.
zonavar68 · 56-60, M
@redredred God is a very simplified way to 'package' up everything about the universe that humans do not understand from science. It is basically a cult.
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@zonavar68 You have no idea what an axiom is do you?
redredred · M
@hippyjoe1955 irrespective of your chosen aesthetics, the silliness of the concept remains.
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@redredred And you have no basis in philosophy. The question is - Did nothing become everything for no reason? Or did Reason create everything out of Itself? Those are the only two options on the table.
redredred · M
@hippyjoe1955 There are lots of other choices but I understand your limitations. There is no need for anything to have a “reason” for existing. There is no need to impute consciousness to the forces that brought about the universe.

Now I’m going to abuse your limitations even further.

All that there is can be divided into two realms; “something” and “nothing”. The only possible source of “something” is “nothing”.
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@redredred NO there are only two options. Either reality came to be by complete accident or by Divine Creation.
redredred · M
@hippyjoe1955 or by the result of an inevitable, ongoing series of natural events. One has to assume reason prevails in the universe to call such a series an “accident”. Further, how dare you limit the creative efforts of a non-divine entity?

Am I divine because I can turn a log into a table? You assume the universe requires divinity for it’s origin. Prove that assertion. As the great writer Arthur C. Clarke observed, “any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic”

You approach this question with an average (at best) human intellect. It doesn’t bother me at all to think that even the best human brain is wholly incapable of even understanding the question let alone come up with the right answer. You impose limits on the form of the question when you have no such right.
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@redredred The burden of proof is on you. You can not reason except that there is Reason.
redredred · M
@hippyjoe1955 Again, you make the extraordinary claim that your (silly fucking) god is in charge so all the burden of proof is on you. I simply question that assertion so I don’t have to prove anything.

You can’t answer my question but you want me to prove something. What kind of proof does anyone need to question an unproven assertion?
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@redredred If you have a option beyond non creator or Creator I would love to hear it. Saying what you said does not make it so. Care to try again?

The evidence that God lives is all around us, you just don't want to see it.
