Who Came Up With the First God?

Well all have a strong sense of self, which is really a product of natural selection. It helps us survive. It also provided the imperative to engage in all the meta things that creative civilization like art, science, philosophy, and so on. The sense of self, it's annihilation at death, it's vulnerability. All good stuff.

But we always have the potential for transcendence. Having that myth of self collapse. It can come from a physiological process like orgasm or fasting. A peak experience on nature. Some initiatory process. Hallucinogens or intoxicants. It can come from inspiration. People writing down or symbolizing their own prior experiences.

But the self collapses and we are left with having to deal with that. One possibility is that we go mad for a while. Another is that we exteriorize the phenomenon. And this we find God, spirit, union, the light, the cat god, whatever. The other is that we interiorize it. This is enlightenment, a yogic experience, and so on.

We all have these experiences. Throughout history. Even now. We just frame them differently.

I bet that hallucinogens have indeed played a part in religion but i think gods were invented when people wanted answers to questions for which they had no answer.
Simple as that.
I came from my parents an they from their parents but where did the first person come from?
A magic man.
How did earth an water and trees and animals come to be here to sustain us?

In fact you can talk to Christians right now who are still falling prey to this primitive thought process.

Some philosophers think it was a way to keep the bully next door away from your wife and possessions. There were no cops or law enforcement so the only thing they had was a terrible after life if you didn't behave today. But there would be any religion if there were no morals or ethics natural to most mankind.
I've often wondered were in the evolution of man Adam and Eve are created. Lucy a band given to a human ancestor about 4 million years old is still the oldest hominid I believe she was doing in Ethiopia . Maybe God 's plan was evolutionary. There was a lot of interbreeding between the neanderthals and modern day man. And some believe Eden was located in Iraq around where the beginning of the Tigris and the Euphrates. Or maybe God and His sense of humor just called over one of the little cherubs always smiling and so innocent and said pull my finger and we were all let.
