"When in doubt, just have faith"

So basically, if you have doubts about your religion, don't do research, ask questions or think about it - just have faith. You know all those questions you have because something doesn't quite add up, something feels a bit off? Don't think about it. Just have faith and everything will magically be okay without you really having to do anything or think for yourself.

When i have had any uncertainty on my beliefs about God and His will i have always asked Him about it.. I have read the Holy Bible looking for passages on the issues.. God has caused me to come to understand many things which i was in confusion about..
What a load of crap, I have dove deep into apologetics, when I've had such doubts.

@BritishFailedAesthetic Yeah, it is a load of crap. But religion encourages that way of thinking.

I have dove deep into apologetics, when I've had such doubts.
So you dive deep into defending your beliefs, rather than trying to broaden your knowledge.
It's fine to defend your beliefs, of course. But maybe those doubts exist because you know things don't make sense.

I dissagree, you must do research and then think about:

Romans 10:17
So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

You wouldn't have heard it unless you read it in the word of God ( the Scriptures )
and you have to research the word of God to find it and then much more than that.

@ArcAngel Do research? Yes. But then turn to faith (which is believing in something without evidence) anyway? No, because that makes any research you've done pointless.
Or if you only look at what's in the bible, ignoring everything else, then you haven't really done proper research anyway.

Remain confused.

faith (which is believing in something without evidence)

(Hebrews 11:1) "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."

When I think about religion remember there is a fly in Africa that leaves larvae in the eyes of children that eat through their eyes and blind them, causing endless pain and misery.

God created that.

@Morvoren How come God did not create the lavish west then?
Redstar · 36-40, M
@Morvoren Yes!
If god existed, that would be a good reason to not be one of his followers.

@SW-User Fictional characters only create dreams.

There's ALWAYS (which is a big word) an "out" when it comes to religion. And the big ones are "just have faith" and, for Christians, "we're all sinners." It's sort of brilliant.
Redstar · 36-40, M
@Ynotisay Or "God works in mysterious ways".

That rapist over there gets to die an old man, safe and free in his own bed.
That child over there gets raped and murdered.
God works in mysterious ways!

I wouldn't call it brilliant, though. I think it only seems brilliant when enough people are stupid enough to believe it.
Ynotisay · M
@Redstar Yep. That's another one on the Hit Parade. It's applicable to anything. But I think the brilliance is due to it being predicated by the audience. The writers knew their market.

@Redstar God gets blamed for a lot of stuff He has nothing to do with

...said nobody, ever.
