There is not one single human on the earth who doesn't worship something. There's not one single human who doesn't have a god.

David foster Wallace got it right when he said this: "In the day-to day trenches of adult life, there is actually no such thing as atheism. There is no such thing as not worshipping. Everybody worships. If you worship money and things — if they are where you tap real meaning in life — then you will never have enough. Never feel you have enough. It’s the truth. Worship your own body and beauty and sexual allure and you will always feel ugly, and when time and age start showing, you will die a million deaths before they finally plant you. On one level, we all know this stuff already. Worship power — you will feel weak and afraid, and you will need ever more power over others to keep the fear at bay. Worship your intellect, being seen as smart — you will end up feeling stupid, a fraud, always on the verge of being found out. And so on."

The atheist worships his own intellect and reasoning. The atheist views that as god. Just think about it: the intellect and reasoning that the atheist worships comes from a limited brain that can only detect 0.0035 percent of the electromagnetic spectrum -visible light - (of which that entire electromagnetic spectrum itself is only a fraction of what can be seen and exists in the universe). A brain that can't hear a dog whistle or even see certain patterns on plants that some insects can see. A limited 3 pound brain that certainly cannot fit the infinite God of the Bible inside of or in the tiny box of "proof" and "evidence" which that limited brain has created. They are slaves to their 5 senses and materialism, which ultimately leads to all the forms of worship listed above, in some form or fashion.

When we lose faith in anything beyond the material, we gain absolute faith in materiality, superficiality, status, selfishness, hedonism and consumerism. If there is no God, and everyone is just an accident, then all that really matters is me, me, me.

Folks, what are you worshipping today? Are you worshipping and putting on a pedestal something that is going to fade away? Are you worshipping the things of a world that is all going to burn? Why?

I worship that which is eternal - a living, risen savior - the Lord Jesus Christ - who is now beyond space, time and matter, as shown in the Holy Word of God which is also eternal: "The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever." - isaiah 40:8.

Even all of your good works will not matter and never be remembered in the end IF you do not have your trust in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Don't pursue things that don't transfer over at death. Live your life cognizant of the fact that your life is short and spend your time glorifying the eternal and risen Jesus Christ and set your affection on Heavenly things.

That’s good for three. Your post has a familiar sound to it. I smell cow patties.
As stated before , there is a big difference between value and worship
People put worth to all kinds of things, but the context of worship is separate from the ordinary. And most people are capable of figuring out
That difference. So despite what you personally may think, there are in fact Atheist in the world. Just as there are people who can tell what is and isn’t a god.

Breath taking arrogance. Proof that this particular person cannot imagine a approach to life that isn’t his.

I am God. Worship me.
@Imsleepy Thank you, all powerful one.

@Imsleepy Interesting. Let me know when you create your own universe, create new life forms from nothing and defeat death.

@SW-User Let me know when you have proof that somebody created THIS universe.

And what do you believe is your greater purpose in life ? We live on a tiny little planet, no contact with the rest of the cosmos. What do you think god has planned ? What could he have planned that he couldn’t have incorporated into creation at the onset ?
There’s alway the possibility, that we can use some of our time to make the world a little bit better. Some what more realistic. Don’t you think ?
David foster Wallace got it real wrong and i'll tell you why.
An awful lot of words trying to prop up a faulty premise.

The problem occurs when David conflates "worship" with worship of a god.
You can say the atheist worships their intellect or money or onlyfans or whatever other example you can think of. The fact is that this person does not believe that a deity exists. "worshiping" money and/or its acquisition is not the same action as praying to a god or divine force that you believe has a will or directives for our life or the ability to intercede in your life.

In order for David foster Wallace's argument to work, one must first dilute and broaden then definition of "god" beyond any meaningful description.
It's simply a false equivalence and an obvious one at that.

A very nice Insight

@TheOrionbeltseeker @SW-User If the meeting of the mutual admiration society is finished, I'd love to see some actual proof of any of this shit.
TheOrionbeltseeker · 36-40, M
@LordShadowfire You will get the truth
@TheOrionbeltseeker Open your mind! Open your mind!

Good for you.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
Nope. You and David are both full of shit. You just can't imagine someone who doesn't need a parental figure, either physical or non-physical, to get them through the day, so you found some guy on the internet who feels the same.
