Biblically speaking, the Sabbath is on Saturday. Anyone marking the Sabbath on Sunday is playing into the hands of the Antichrist. [Spirituality & Religion]

That depends. The reason most Christian denominations have moved it to Sunday is in commemoration of the Resurrection happening on a Sunday.
@OggggO

Well i'm not aware of any of them making the change either. As far as i know it was the Pope.
OggggO · 36-40, M
@Pikachu Hmm, I might look into it.
@OggggO

Right on👍

According to whom?
@Bushranger

Apparently not. Although he does seem to pull up short when you remind him that god is watching him lol

@Bushranger @Pikachu
he has absolutely no idea and no compunction about lying.

You guys sure do, you lie all the time.
@GodSpeed63

You said that you give straight answers to straight questions.
Well i asked you a straight question and you responded with not an answer but a question: "What do you think"?
Then with God as your witness, i asked you if you genuinely considered that to be a straight answer and you avoided that question too!

lol remind me, does god love a hypocrite?

So Try again. Redeem yourself by giving a straight answer.

From what i read in the Bible, Jesus relaxed some of the rules around the Sabbath (eg> if you animal gets stuck in a hole on the Sabbath you can go ahead and work to get it out, be realistic guyz) but he never changed the day of the Sabbath.

As far as i can tell, that was done by men who have no authority to change the command of god.

Can you offer scriptural evidence that Jesus or maybe even his apostles changed the day of the Sabbath?

I suppose, but "Biblically speaking" the Sabbath is a day in which you don't do any work or activity at all. Most people ignore that part too.
@SW-User

Definitely. Which i think would make sense to worship on Sunday since you aren't supposed to travel either. As long as you recognize the Sabbath on Saturday.
Nihilist · 26-30, M
I'm no religious expert, but isn't it out of the ordinary to have your Sabbath on a Saturday?

Having your Sabbath on a Saturday is what is referred to a Seventh Day Advocate to my knowledge.

If that is not the case, disregard the previous.
@OggggO

lol does their crest look something like the one i posted in the OP?😜
OggggO · 36-40, M
@Pikachu I'm guessing the answer is yes, although I rarely pay attention to denominational symbols.
@OggggO
lol yes. I was being sarcastic. No worries, i couldn't have pointed it out either.

{@pikachu] 🤫 why is that when trump thinks the sabbath is sunday 😆
LoveTriumphsOverHate · 36-40, M
Whoever disputed this? Noone in the church has claimed otherwise. In fact, thats why we have church on Sunday. It wouldnt be biblical appropriate to have church on the sabbath
@LoveTriumphsOverHate

We believe that the Lord's Day, celebrated on Sunday, the first day of the week, throughout the Christian church, is the Christian sabbath, which we reverently observe as a day of rest and worship and as the continuing memorial of our Savior's resurrection.

I agree that traveling to church and so on would be problematic on the Sabbath
LoveTriumphsOverHate · 36-40, M
@Pikachu Yes, but also remember what Jesus said when he was being accused of violating the law of the Sabbath - Mark 2:27: Then He told them, "The Sabbath was made for man and not man for the Sabbath."

What Jesus Christ is saying is that the Sabbath is a right/privilege, not a hindrance. It was the one day where priests in the temple could rest. It's a day that God has made that we should all rest - for our benefit.
@LoveTriumphsOverHate

Sounds fine to me. But it's still Saturday lol

I refer to Saturday as the Sabbath, and I refer to Sunday by the biblical term, the Lord's Day.
@DrWatson

What's the lord's day in the bible?
Sharon · F
Anyone doing anything that a christian disagrees with is playing into the hands of Satan/the Antichrist in the eyes of that christian.
@Sharon

lol true enough
TheWildEcho · 61-69, M
@Sharon the only ones on this thread to mention the antichrist until now, are atheists
@TheWildEcho

lol maybe in this thread but from whom do you think we're getting this rhetoric?😉
Carazaa · F
@Carazaa

the protestant churches changed it to Sunday in honor of what Jesus did

Hmmm didn't know that men had the authority to change one of god's commandments.
Remember the Sabbath and keep it holy. The seventh day was the Sabbath...and you think men can just change that?
suzie1960 · 61-69, F
@Pikachu As man created god, he can do what he likes with it.
@suzie1960

lol well yeah, But not if one believes god is real
