What’s your religion and what do you believe in? I know everyone have their own beliefs so I don’t judge. [Spirituality & Religion]

RopinTexan · 31-35, M
Protestant Christian. I don’t align with any particular denomination, but I grew up in the Church of Christ, which shaped what I believe today. Some CoC principles I still hang onto today are that of water baptism. I believe those who accept Jesus voluntarily (main word being voluntarily) should repent and be baptized in water for remission of sins. Some CoC principles I reject are the belief that the “wine” referred to in the Bible was just grape juice and that anything that could potentially lead to sin should be treated as sin itself.

I’ve studied an abundance of religions, and although I do not officially affiliate myself with any of them, I must say that my beliefs align the best with those of Buddhism

I believe in YAHWEH. The great I AM who created the heavens and the earth and all that is in them. I believe in God the Will, God the Thought and God the Spirit.

Omnist, there is truth in every religion.

i miss the old religions. whether it was the Greek God not keeping it in his pants or the egyptian god Ra masturbating and his "Seed" becoming the world and everything in it.

I'd go to any of these sermons over the boring modern ones any day :(

A mixture of Tibetan Buddhism, Satanism and agnostic.
RopinTexan · 31-35, M
@SatanBurger Satanist and agnostic, that’s an interesting combination. Do you believe in the literal existence of Satan?
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@RopinTexan Maybe. I'm not sure about it but sometimes I do and sometimes I don't.

I was born, baptised, and raised Catholic. Even attended a private Christian School through elementary. I was very inquisitive though and a lot of things didn't make sense. By high school I'd decided I was non denominational Christian. I still wanted to believe at that time but I felt organized religion just had too much wrong and were just fallible humans trying to assert God's will as they wanted it to be.

I started reading the Bible critically around then. I was pretty amazed at the kind of things that were glossed over by faith leaders. Without anyone guiding a process of jumping around the book and just reading it, contradictions really started to pop out. Actions taken were not those of a benevolent deity. And the more I read, the more it didn't make sense anymore. The more questions I had and the more I had to make excuses for holding onto it.

When I finally realized it was okay to let go of these beliefs it was actually really easy to do so. Not because I wanted to sin, but because I believe in actually a better person without them. And because I want to live with the most correct understanding of reality that I can.

I am atheist. And I tend to be a non-traditionalist (meaning I put no value in tradition for the sake of tradition). I hold no religion.
