Christians: what do you consider the reason for god wanting to save us... [Spirituality & Religion]

... but refusing to reveal himself in a way that would make us all believe that he exists?

Let's first look at the definitions in your question:

Save - (in Christian use) preserve (a person's soul) from damnation.

Believe - accept that (something) is true, especially without proof.

Now that this is clear it should be obvious.

@Qwerty14
a prophecy written by some crazy man in a cave is not the "word of God".
It's in the bible so, according to most christians, is "The Word of God". Admittedly I don't believe that because I'm not a christian.
@Sharon And which book says that revelation is the word of God? Oh right, revelation. That is poor logic.
Sharon · F
@Qwerty14 We Atheists know the bible is full of errors and contradictions so what you say isn't news. I have little doubt that Revelation, as well as other parts, was written by a man inspired by psilocybin, mescaline, rye fungus or some other hallucinogen, Most christians, however, claim the entire bible, including Revelation, is "The Word of God".
There could be a simple enough reason for that: The father, the son and the holy spirit don't actually exist as real entities, hence they're having a hard time trying to make themselves heard loud and clear. I know this is a very unlikely reason, but for the sake of argument...
Obviously the true reason is it's all a test, you have 5 minutes to do it. The teacher's pets that learnt their lesson well shall be rewarded by milk, honey, and stuff.

Occam's razor - the most simple answer is probably the correct one.
BittersweetPotato · 31-35, F
He is shy. So, doesn't want to reveal himself.
@BittersweetPotato Damn it, now that explains it all. Come on, old boy...
BittersweetPotato · 31-35, F
@EarthlingWise and nobody understood him all of these years 😔

Gods second chosen one is here...all you need is faith...

Simple.. He created us, So therefore we are his creation, and so He wants to Redeem His creation..

If i made something and it gets damaged i want to fix it too..
@Adstar
Disbelieving that God exists is a psychological defense mechanism for people who disagree with the will of God
...um you just made that up.
Is not believing in Santa a psychological defense mechanism for people who disagree with Santa?

So in fact you're simply ignoring the little exercise you just completed.
You just proved to yourself that belief is not a willful choice and have post hoc invented a rationalization to cover over the cognitive dissonance.
And not only that but you'd like to spin it as god doing as a favour before we burn forever.
Ok.

Oh, i see the rest of your post is given over to personally criticizing me.
I certainly have issues with parts of the bible and find other parts quite funny.
I'm also happy to discuss it both seriously and flippantly depending on my mood and the subject.
Must be that psychological defense mechanism lol.

You can see yourself out.
Adstar · 56-60, M
@Pikachu I stand by everything i said.. May you be forgiven..
@Adstar

How dishonest of you.
As you wish.
but refusing to reveal himself in a way ...
What's wrong with the way He chose?
Oh, that's right, it's not the way you would do it.
Budwick · 70-79, M
@LeopoldBloom
You banging your gums about him isn't sufficient.
Of course not!
That's why He made Himself known within His Creation!
Creation is here for all of us and everyone can understand and accept. It can work for everyone. Demanding a command performance I don't think has ever worked.
Let me talk to your manager
He has an open line for you now!
@Budwick OK, I'm right here, he knows where to find me. Assuming he exists and gives a fuck, of course.

Believe me, I am waiting Him to answer my prayer since forever.

I guess He just too shy to show himself.
@SW-User

Apparently lol

Only people who accept flying spaghetti monster as their savior will be saved for he is the true God. r'Amen. 🙏

@Pikachu
...oh, nothing to say?
You have to press enter before I can see your response from 30 seconds ago.
Why don't you go ahead and describe what was so disrespectful about this question.
Did you look at the picture in your post - the one with cartoon captions?

Beating Qwerty over the head repeatedly wasn't cool.
You can't accept answers that don't fit your formula.
You have the same problem with God.

It's the same in all your anti-god posts.
Bait believers into answering your question, your way,
kick 'em in the knees, demand they answer, scoff at what you perceive as stupidity. All designed to drive believers away from their faith, or at least not to profess it publicly.

Evil is as evil does.
[Was that Forrest Gump?]
@Budwick

Aww, is that facetious picture really so offensive to you?
Swear on your god that it genuinely offends you and i'll take it down.
If not then it's just one more attempt for you to excuse your shitty behaviour.
You have to press enter before I can see your response from 30 seconds ago.
lol that was anticipatory.
And i was not disappointed because all you came up with had nothing to do with the question being disrespectful.
You're just looking for reasons to justify your behaviour.

Yes, i baited you into this thread. Practically twisted your arm.
And then you gave a thoughtful, reasoned response and i kicked your knees out yes?😏

Funny how the people who enter my threads with a reasoned response get treated respectfully and don't seem to have a problem with me.
It's only people like you who enter ready for a fight who get a fight....

Like i said, enter my threads with respect or enter them with animosity in your heart and either way you shall reap what you sow.

@Pikachu
Swear on your god that it genuinely offends you and i'll take it down.
Of course I find the picture and the post offensive!
And, I swear before God, that those are my feelings.
@Budwick

Ok, the picture has been changed.
and the post offensive!
Now what's offensive about the question, snowflake?
Adaydreambeliever · 56-60, F
He doesn't want to save us! I think we are going about the right way to end up making ourselves extinct :(
Ian123 · 61-69, M
Do you like having to justify yourself? Maybe he will when he’s ready. Those who believe know that he or she is real 😇
@Ian123

Just not atheists or buddhists or hindus or muslims or....
Sharon · F
@Ian123
Those who believe know that he or she is real
Just as those who believe know Santa Claus is real.
Ian123 · 61-69, M
@Pikachu Everyone 👍
SW-User
Because it’s supposed to be a “test”. Only those who will believe without proof (i.e. those who have faith) are worthy of “saving”. Demanding proof is arrogance and proof itself that you’re not worth saving.
@SW-User

1) Where does it say in the bible that belief without knowing is more important to god than saving people?
2) Who's demanding anything? It's not a demand, it's a deficiency. I can't choose to believe in god any more than you can choose to believe in Santa.
I cannot decide to be convinced by that which i find unconvincing.
God would know that.
God would know that millions of people like me exist. God would know that billions more would be convinced by the existence of other gods.

So the question remains: If god wants to save us, why not show us he's real so we can come to him?
Sharon · F
@SW-User
Demanding proof is arrogance and proof itself that you’re not worth saving.
That is just christian hubris.
BittersweetPotato · 31-35, F
@SW-User
Demanding proof is arrogance
Since when? So if one uses their brain to investigate before they believe, they are arrogant? Well, sorry, but I am an auditor! I don't believe, until I see "sufficient and appropriate evidence".
ScarletWitch · 26-30, F
Seen a darker version of the Roman's nailing (fuckin) jesus to the cross.
@ScarletWitch

I don't follow?
ScarletWitch · 26-30, F
@Pikachu u posted a meme.
@ScarletWitch

Ah i see lol
Atrevido1 · 61-69, M
Love is the reason. Faith requires no proof. But I would never push anything on you.
booboo · M
SIN...plain and simple
@booboo

Can you elaborate on that?
