No, I don't wonder. If we were perfect, we wouldn't need Jesus.
We have a powerful and loving God. I look at some of the people mentioned in the Bible. They had their faults but they repented and continued to follow Jesus. They were called the children of God.

The thing you've always got to remember is God gave us free choice God knows that we will make decisions that are not always best. But Jesus said we should think of God as a loving father more loving than any father known to man he will always forgive you and always welcome you back. Even The parables that Jesus tells of how my father should welcome their children even the child who took half of his father's wealth went and plundered it wasting it all returned with nothing the father then slaughtered the fatted calf and had a feast to celebrate the return of his son just as God would welcome you back and your past is your past God doesn't go around and bring up your past. Think of how many times you've seen a woman bring up every single thing for boyfriend did that was wrong well that just so she never actually loved him she never forgave him she just waited to throw it back in his face. No matter what you've done you are still loved.
StrictLoving · 56-60, M
We are all imperfect and fall short of the glory of God.
We are all sinners.
None of us deserve his love and mercy.
But God's love is so great, He forgives us anyway and gives us a place in heaven, just for believing and being faithful.
When you are consumed with guilt and that keeps you from God's plan for your life, the Devil wins!
You have to accept God's mercy and Jesus' sacrifice.
What Jesus did on the cross is enough to cover not only your sins, but the sins of the whole world!
Because he never sinned and is the perfect sacrifice, it is enough to cover the sins of the world.
Jesus paid the price for sins you haven't even done yet!
So don't worry about not being good enough. None of us are good enough.
Don't worry about not being worthy. None of us are worthy.
Don't worry about not being righteous. None of are righteous ... except that ...
Jesus died for our sins.
He was good enough and makes us good enough.
He was worthy, and makes us worthy.
He was righteous and makes us righteous.
His righteousness is bestowed upon you.
You didn't earn it, but you have it.
Praise God and thank Jesus for what you have.
What Jesus did is enough for everyone and that includes you.

I think Jesus knows each of us and our sins. As long as we accept Christ as our savior, we will be cleansed and they will be washed away upon entering the Kingdom of God.

SW-User
I understand the sentiment but you can't think that way. First - your flaws are no longer the burden they once were. You're saved by Christ, your redemption is complete, and your sanctification is under way.
Pfuzylogic · M
This reminds me of scripture which you are more than likely familiar with
2 Corinthians 12:9 which was written by Saint Paul but inspired by the Holy Spirit.
2 Corinthians 12:9 which was written by Saint Paul but inspired by the Holy Spirit.
But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me.
It reminds me that the test of perfection was given to Jesus and not to me. I simply accept grace through the Holy Spirit that guards me from the disbelief of the world.
cecile · F
i am doomed for the things i have done and do still
karysma · 36-40, F
@cecile It's never too late. Let the Holy Spirit help you. He's with you 24/7 for a reason. Use that to your advantage cause trust me when he's done with you you'll look in the mirror and love what you see. I know I'm loving who he's helping me become and it looks just like my Heavenly Father.

SW-User
@cecile But why would you finish that way... there's no need.
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
We are saved by Grace (God's Gift) not by works lest anyone boast. If I could be a good enough Christian then Jesus died for no reason.

You are as you were created and how society moulds you, religion is full of contradiction, in 1 part they say to turn the other cheek whole another part says an eye for an eye. So if try and follow the logic its not possible its meant to keep you guessing so are you perfect no, no one is, just be you and sort out the details as you go. Dont ponder on old documents written for another era.
Pinkstarburst · 51-55, F
I don’t until other people put doubts in my mind. Then I have to return to the Word and remember that there is only one who knows my heart and only one I must answer to.

I am a horrible christian. I believe in God and Jesus and I think they are cruel to send their creation to eternal torture because of rules made up by God that we have to follow and then give us free will after all that.
Mistakesmakeus · M
@karysma that's a stupid point because you can commit the same sins before hand but now god can forgive you because he killed his son to forgive us
karysma · 36-40, F
@Mistakesmakeus that is how powerful the blood of Jesus is. That same here blood will get us into heaven

Those laws were given and in no way impossible to follow, the evil ones who choose to reject Jesus fully deserve what they get, not that I'm glad for it as some that I love do not believe or do not follow Jesus
He is fully righteous in sending wicked ones to burn, he is creator of the universe and those that do not obey him are like weeds in a garden

Adam & Eve were never immortal. They got kicked out so that they wouldn't eat from the tree of life and live forever =
Genesis 3:22 (CEV) = The Lord said, “They now know the difference between right and wrong, just as we do. But they must not be allowed to eat fruit from the tree that lets them live forever.”
To be mortal is to be flawed - it's why Adam and Eve had to leave heaven, as they were no longer "perfect" enough to stay immortal. But they sought forgiveness to God and were redeemed before they died. You should do the same.

Christ performed his atoning sacrifice for us to rely on him through faith , if you belive in the repenting doctrine that means we need to overcome our own sins to be closer to him . We also need to serve others too . Those two things helps us become less selfish.

I focus more on being a good human being, man is flawed and religion is flawed. I think if you lead a good, moral life and don't seek to do harm to others, you're doing ok. So much harm has been done in the name of Christianity and focusing on sin that it's always made me wonder. If the person who goes to church on Sunday to be absolved of his sins, then goes home and beats his wife and children is considered a "Good Christian" then that's not something I want to be...
Adstar · 56-60, M
@spjennifer I NEVER try to justify any bad thing i have done.. There is no point to try and justify bad deeds before the LORD when His atonement can cover all my sins in an instant.. So i adopt a Zero resistance policy towards the will of God and willingly say to Him that His will is perfect and anything i have done against His will is sin and every time i have failed to do His will is sin and thank Him for suffering death to pay the penalty for all my sins..
I am covered, absolved of all my sins, even those i do not remember.. I am in the ultimate safe space 😊 with the LORD..
So have faith ( which is trust ) in the teachings of God in the things you personally agree with and things that you don't quite understand. Acknowledging some out of agreement and acknowledging others out of Faith and all will be well for you..
Salvation is simple and His burden is light.. It's so easy to be saved if we put our pride in the back seat..

@Adstar As a child I grew up singing and truly believing in "Jesus loves the little children, ALL the children of the world" and I still firmly believe that to this day, it was not "all the children of the world, except for... and... because..." and that is what I struggle mightily with and why I walked away from the religions, doesn't mean I don't believe, I just believe differently than most.
Adstar · 56-60, M
@spjennifer Yes indeed the LORD Jesus loves all human beings.. Yep.. That's why he came and suffered death to pay for our sins.. to save us from the judgement that we where facing for our sins.. He cam to save Sinners..
There is only one sin that is unforgivable and that is blasphemy of the Holy Spirit and if you want to know what that is it happened in the gospel when some evil scribes came to Jesus from Jerusalem and declared that Jesus was doing his miracles by demonic powers..
But all other sins WILL be forgiven through the Atonement of the LORD Jesus.. So if someone told you that your particular sin was unforgivable then they are guilty of preaching a false Gospel to you..
The Gospel is what the LORD declares it to be.. Not what pastor this or reverend that or evangelist so and so says.. I myself left a ""church /denomination"" after i read the Bible for myself, because i found out my former church was teaching things against the Word of God.. But i did not chuck the precious baby out with the bathwater and abandon my Faith in God..
Test your beliefs spjennifer against the template of Gods teachings.. Don't resist.. None of us can live without sinning.. But we can live in a state where we are constantly being forgiven our sins by God. We can constantly be in a state of salvation..

Micah 5:2 (CEB) = As for you, Bethlehem of Ephrathah, though you are the least significant of Judah’s forces, one who is to be a ruler in Israel on my behalf will come out from you. His origin is from remote times, from ancient days."
Matthew 2:6 (CEB) = "You, Bethlehem, land of Judah, by no means are you least among the rulers of Judah, because from you will come one who governs, who will shepherd my people Israel.”
People were called Jews in the Old Testament. There are countless verses in all Bible versions. Of course there were no "J" words before the 1500s AD.
Yeah, but there were 6 different tribes in that land, and they were all called Jews at one time... they were called Yudeans because there was no such thing as a JEW in Jesus day.... Yudeans became Jews. In the passage you mentioned, Jesus is talking to a Samaritan. The Samaritans, Phoenicians, Canaanites, Edomites and Arabs were also integrated in with the Jews. Also, King Herod was half Arab and Half Edomite.
Technically, the Jesus character was a Galilean. He had to be born in Bethlehem in order to satisfy the prophecy.Micah 5:2 (CEB) = As for you, Bethlehem of Ephrathah, though you are the least significant of Judah’s forces, one who is to be a ruler in Israel on my behalf will come out from you. I understand... and that's a normal reaction. You should strive to be better in Christ's image. But don't let it depress you or overly affect you, cause you know you can't reach than pinnacle, and you don't have to. You are completely redeemed... and it's not even up to you - which is rather liberating. So God bless.

I mean, what I would say is that God knows you are imperfect and that's okay. That's why Jesus died for you and for me. That's why wherever two people gather in His name He will listen.

I ain't Christian by any means, but having been raised in a place where Christianity is the major religion I'll let you think of it like this. God will judge anyone by his own standards and not in the way you might think. If you genuinely try to do your best, that is what you'll be rewarded for, no matter the actual outcome.
