Do you ever wonder if you are a good enough christian [Spirituality & Religion]

I sometimes think about whether I am a failure as a christian because of my flaws. I know that I am wholly redeemed by Christ's dying for my sins. But am I actually a good influence towards others leading them towards wanting Christ in their lives.

I focus more on being a good human being, man is flawed and religion is flawed. I think if you lead a good, moral life and don't seek to do harm to others, you're doing ok. So much harm has been done in the name of Christianity and focusing on sin that it's always made me wonder. If the person who goes to church on Sunday to be absolved of his sins, then goes home and beats his wife and children is considered a "Good Christian" then that's not something I want to be...

This man is not a good Christian.. But if he is a Christian and acknowledges that is brutality towards his wife is sin he will be forgiven.. But yeah like you he should not want to be himself.. He should be ashamed of himself..

@Adstar But see, that's my whole point, many Christians see that man as a "Good Christian" because he goes to church and begs forgiveness for his sins, then goes and commits the same sin again and the cycle repeats itself. If I don't beg forgiveness for my so-called sins because I don't think the things I do are sinful I'm not considered to be a "Good Christian" so which is wrong?

@spjennifer I don't believe people are bad. The action is horrible. Sin drives people to corrupt the image of God. Remember we are created in his image

@spjennifer It matters not a jot if other human beings think that man is a good Christian.. What matters is God thinks of the man and one day that man will stand before the LORD and nothing will be hidden,, Nothing will be out of sight.. And we also will stand before the LORD and everything about us will be revealed.. In the end we need to reflect upon our own lives in relation to the will of God and see where we need to acknowledge our wrongs and get right with God personally..

We can come to an opinion that one man is a good person and the other man is a bad person but in the end our faulty imperfect assessments don't matter..

@spjennifer Oh and if one believes God ( His Will for us ) and if one trusts in the Atonement Jesus secured on the cross for the forgiveness of our sins then one shall be saved.. I don't need to beg for forgiveness each and every day for each and every sin i have committed.. I am forgiven because i believe God and trust the LORD..

@karysma Sorry but sin is not conscious, it has no intelligence, it's the person who commits the sin who is corrupt, they are not corrupted by the sin, they are corrupt to begin with. If they are not corrupt then they don't commit the sin, therefor don't need the forgiveness.

@spjennifer Corruption does not absolve one of the need to hate what is evil and love what is good.. One needs to acknowledge to God that His will is good and anything opposed to His will is evil.. Salvation comes when a person is in agreement with Gods standards ( irrespective of how well or how bad they are at living them ) And embraces the Way God has made for them to be justly forgiven for all their failures to live up to His standards..

We to not attain salvation by being good enough..
We attain salvation by having all the things that make us unworthy of salvation forgiven..

This means you were perfect in the beginning but you were tempted and felt into sin. The devil is tricky and a liar, he makes sin look good when it's really the opposite

@Adstar You may well be right and if i ever "stand before God" i can defend the things I've done but does it make me a bad Christian to not beg for forgiveness or because I believe differently than someone else or that I don't agree with some of the so-called "sins" that have become part of the religious mindset of the variety of Christian religions, I don't think so... Man has always sought to interpret the word of God and failed dismally at it. More often than not, Man has chosen to use the "will of God" to subjugate others and bend them to their will and their beliefs and that is why I've always had issues with the mainstream Christian religions.

@spjennifer I NEVER try to justify any bad thing i have done.. There is no point to try and justify bad deeds before the LORD when His atonement can cover all my sins in an instant.. So i adopt a Zero resistance policy towards the will of God and willingly say to Him that His will is perfect and anything i have done against His will is sin and every time i have failed to do His will is sin and thank Him for suffering death to pay the penalty for all my sins..

I am covered, absolved of all my sins, even those i do not remember.. I am in the ultimate safe space 😊 with the LORD..

So have faith ( which is trust ) in the teachings of God in the things you personally agree with and things that you don't quite understand. Acknowledging some out of agreement and acknowledging others out of Faith and all will be well for you..

Salvation is simple and His burden is light.. It's so easy to be saved if we put our pride in the back seat..

@Adstar As a child I grew up singing and truly believing in "Jesus loves the little children, ALL the children of the world" and I still firmly believe that to this day, it was not "all the children of the world, except for... and... because..." and that is what I struggle mightily with and why I walked away from the religions, doesn't mean I don't believe, I just believe differently than most.

@spjennifer Yes indeed the LORD Jesus loves all human beings.. Yep.. That's why he came and suffered death to pay for our sins.. to save us from the judgement that we where facing for our sins.. He cam to save Sinners..

There is only one sin that is unforgivable and that is blasphemy of the Holy Spirit and if you want to know what that is it happened in the gospel when some evil scribes came to Jesus from Jerusalem and declared that Jesus was doing his miracles by demonic powers..

But all other sins WILL be forgiven through the Atonement of the LORD Jesus.. So if someone told you that your particular sin was unforgivable then they are guilty of preaching a false Gospel to you..

The Gospel is what the LORD declares it to be.. Not what pastor this or reverend that or evangelist so and so says.. I myself left a ""church /denomination"" after i read the Bible for myself, because i found out my former church was teaching things against the Word of God.. But i did not chuck the precious baby out with the bathwater and abandon my Faith in God..

Test your beliefs spjennifer against the template of Gods teachings.. Don't resist.. None of us can live without sinning.. But we can live in a state where we are constantly being forgiven our sins by God. We can constantly be in a state of salvation..
