Are science and religion compatible? [Spirituality & Religion]

There are many religions out there and many creation stories. From what I've seen, many people would prefer to believe their religious texts than accepts some of the findings of science. Discuss.

when I tell people why I no longer hate God ,and deny He exists
and their answer is "there are many things out there doctors and science can't explain yet ,but thats still no proof there is a God .
When I share with the church things God told me to tell them ,
they are happy with traditions that are thousands of years old that oppose Him so they aren't listening either ,,
but Grandma did it this way ,thats good enough for me .
There are how many denominations in the World ? But they all hear from God .
And how many doctrines to go along with those religions ,,but most are not in accordance with the Bible ,they are based on the beliefs of their Religion .
They totally ignore the book they claim is the "Inspired word of God "

Now the Pope even admits he does not follow the Bible ,he is above that and he is perfect ,he is infallible ,men put him in power ,but now he can pick and chose how he can interpret scripture ,"He is God on earth"
Even though the Book says there is only one mediator between God and men ,and that is Christ ,the Pope says its him and Mary and he repents to Mary ,and an Image of Christ and the saints ,(I seen this with my own eyes ,its not hear say)
The book says not to call any man on earth father ,but the Pope is called Holy Father ,and he can send you to heaven or purgatory ,or hell
The Book says only God can do that
the Book says "Thou shall not kill (or Murder ) but many are killed daily in the name of God ,I could go on but hopefully you get my point

Religion and God are not the same thing ,and God is not bound to anything
but He does use His Book ,,so when we see things like I have seen
it was in there so I could confirm it was from Him ,it was written down thousands of years ago ,,I was confirming it ,,I did not get the things I know from the Book ,,,but thats neither here nor there ,it will only be beneficial for those who want to hear ,and see if its in the book ,,its not meant for those who don't believe in Him to begin with .

So if I told you my testimony what would it change ?
If I told you how I know that I know God is real and no model or scientific BS is going to alter how I feel ,,and it did not begin with a Book ,it began with a first hand experience ,,who cares ,surely it was not God and I must me nuts .
because a man said so .

My battle is not with flesh and blood ,and I am not the one forcing others to hear or believe me ,but I am called to give an account for what I have seen .
I did and will again for any who want to hear it
I am not the one, Even though I am willing to die for what I know
I am not the one who is trying to debunk ,or make liars out of anyone .
The things I have experienced may only save me if even I make it ,who knows
My experience immediately changed me ,made a better man of me ,and that alone should make people happy and say "let him be ,he is hurting no one" ,
and that is a good thing ,he was good at hurting people before whatever happened to him happened .He like Saul ,is not the same man .

In my way of thinking there is nothing to debate
Christians can't agree on text thousands of years old
The Jews killed their messiah because He did not agree with their religion
and nothing has changed ,except its gotten worse ,and the "Church " opposes the one they claim to love more than ever ,they love their traditions .

The Church can't even agree and get along ,or One God ,could tell them all the same message ,and that would settle all the religion problems .
They missed that message from Christ about a Lord Lord Church that opposed Him but they claimed they did all kinds of things in His name ,
but He said He never knew them ,wonder who gave them the power to do all those things they said they did ? Christ said it wasn't Him .

Just about the only thing they do agree on as Christians ,
is God made the heavens and the earth ,and Christ was God who came in human form and died in our place on a cross ,much more than that your pushing it

So for most that is all they have ,good luck changing that
I have a little more than that ,but like the last guy with his model said
"There are somethings Doctors and Scientists just don't understand yet "
Yea I know ,,because the one I met is the one they are trying to say does not exist ,,and to that I say that is their opinion ...
I Can't wait to see them explain that model to Him and question His Logic
I can almost hear Him laugh ,He does have a sense of humor
Have a good one ,,I hope you can see the Church already has enough problems

Nope. The bible doesn't work as a science textbook because it doesn't measure up to the standards and requirements of it.

The bible teaches us how to go to heaven, not how the heavens go. - Galileo Galilei

@newjaninev2 Can you get wifi in heaven?

Not really.
I believe that religion was used to explain how the Universe, and nature, works to a primitive people who did not know Science.
Sharky86 · 36-40, M
Simply not, not in a honest way.
Cause science is FACTS while religions are BULLSHIT. Just deal with it.
Some scientists and metaphysivisits would say yes

@MushroomFaerie Ok, I'd like to understand your point.
@Bushranger You need to dig deeper into your research and be persistent and open minded
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@MushroomFaerie This is something I hear a lot. On the other hand, while I'm personally an atheist, I don't deny that other people have faith. My concern with faith is that it requires you to accept something on, well, faith, without evidence. To me, that is not being open minded.

They are two entirely different concepts. We can't compare one with the other, so they are neither compatible nor incompatible. The are just.... different.
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@NankerPhelge Can a scientist have religious faith?
NankerPhelge · 61-69, M
@Bushranger I wouldn't say it's impossible.

No. Science is relegated to providing supportive facts. It can never conclude whether or not we survive death- even through a facts pyramid.

Science and religion don't really work well together in my opinion. But I see a lot of religious people at my school tho.

Read The God Contention by Kevin Lane he argues a way to marry the two
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@SW-User Could you provide a brief outline, please?
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@SW-User Ok, just saw a brief description. Sounds very interesting and, from what I can see, there is a valid point about Churches being not keeping up with the real world.

Someone once said that science will answer all the questions but one, and that one will be where you find God.

Yes.

I’m like 100% sure Jesus made the Big Bang.
