What makes you feel special?

A delicate but leading hand on the small of my back.

A wink or smile from across the room.

Someone being able to recall something small I’ve said.

The slight pause that accompanies the puzzled “…the fuck, woman” look given that is a precursor to a loud uncontrollable laugh because the out of left field comment I’ve said.

A little but powerful “my” being used to describe me.

And lastly, the short bus that honks daily as it passes my house.

People, the little things they do to show their care for me.

Being a dad, my daughters have always made me feel special

when i set out on a many month task and complete it.

Nothing. I like being me, but I feel invisible.
