Did yo mamma ever beat your ass with a slotted spoon?

More often than not it was the wooden spoon. But once in awhile it was the cutting board or the plastic slotted spoon. To this day when I see one I wince just a bit. Don’t remember what I did to earn the punishment but I remember that spoon. Some days I laugh. Somedays I want to crawl into a bottle of gin.

Wire hangers, and the like. Thank you so much for that, Joan Crawford

@SW-User Ruined her career because she was so good in the role.

@SW-User She said it didn't really help her career. Made her kind of a cartoon character.

People raised in the 50s, 60s, 70s were routinely subjected to vicious battering by the parents who were supposed to protect them from harm. These days, I see some of these people still lauding their parents for "whipping my a**" rather than acknowledge it for the abuse that it was. But people born in those days perhaps are more resilient and better able to deal with adversity than the current snowflake generation that gets PTSD from mere words thrown their way.

@MsSwan Whippings? Smacked with sticks and hangers? Battering? None of this is abuse and kids deserve it? Not following.

@SW-User Thus proving that it's not necessary.

@graphite
You're right. Plus, my dad rarely scolded me. He didn't need to. He led by example.
A thick, wide belt or a paddle cut from 3/4" plywood.
@UnderLockDown that will do it
@Roundandroundwego stings doesn’t it
@Quoththeraven the wooden spoon and the hair brush are both worse.
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M

JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@Bexsy My mom a spoon, My dad would threaten with the belt, but he never did it.
@JimboSaturn haha didn't mean to respond to you when responding to this post. Don't know what I'm doing this morning

a green/fresh cut hickory, oak, maple, etc. switch would cure most of this modern "wokeism"...
AceWarbringer · 36-40, M
I got the belt from dad. Mom was a saint for what i did growing up
@AceWarbringer did you raise heck?
AceWarbringer · 36-40, M
@Quoththeraven heck, havok, and wear and tear.
thepreposterouspanda · 36-40, M
Yup. Also a ping pong paddle and some other things that I've kind of shut out at this point. 🤔
No spoons, just the belt or open hand.
TheFragile · 46-50, M
Wooden only.
Worse.. silent treatment 😏
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout narcissistic manipulation. To do that to a child!?!? To be honest this is just as bad if not worse
Bang5luts · M

Bang5luts · M
