It’s a bias against women; the fact that women’s anger is not always taken seriously. It’s hard watching old tv shows from my youth, even sitcoms that I liked are guilty: women are often depicted as silly, crying over things of no consequence. She makes a police report, the police roll their eyes and talk down to her. Women fighting is a "catfight". The only time an angry woman is really taken seriously is if she’s armed. But then, of course, she’s "crazy". 😳

I've definitely heard conflict between men as drama before. 🤷♂️
I think the issue is that men tend to have more direct conflict whereas women like to go all sneaky about it. This has both good and bad effects though obv, as direct conflict can turn into actual violence at times.
1 thing thats true is men get over conflict faster than women.

I call it drama when the argument is useless and over stupid things.
WhateverWorks · 36-40
From my perspective, there’s a difference between conflict which is simply when something isn’t working out versus being dramatic. You can address a conflict in a respectful, problem-solving, looking for a compromise, empathetic etc approach.
Drama is when people are having a tantrum, being catty, gossiping, having a massive pity party rather than doing anything constructive about it. I hate to say it, but women are more prone to ‘big displays’ of drama than guys because we’re often raised to be feeling oriented creatures and men are raised to be pent up.
Naturally, there are a lot of guys and a lot of women who don’t fit into the stereotype, but the stereotype isn’t completely without merit.

It's not about the genders ... it's about the topic ... some topics are conflicts while others are just drama based
Magenta · F
Oh, I know a few drama kings, no doubt.

I don't think drama has to do with gender.
Another thing I hate is when something is seriously wrong and they blame it on female hormones or menstruation.

@SW-User yes, me too

I have a male friend who is definitely a drama queen...so I don't think drama queenliness can be confined to one sex.
ChiefJustWalks · 26-30
@4meAndyou exactly. Men can be them too.. it's just a female trait 😂
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
I believe it's more the nature of the conflict rather than the actual conflict.
Women are more emotional based. So their conflicts are more of a personal nature. This actually has more to do with aggression than anything else. Women are far more passive aggressive. And men more physically aggressive.
Try having a physical fight sometime and see just how long it lasts. One way or the other it gets settled quickly.
Drama can last decades.

I think you are misconstruing what men think of as drama queens. It doesn't really have much to do with conflict as it does in delivery and how much whining is involved with their speech. Women who are thought of as drama queens are a pure pain in the ass and I met guys that are drama queens also but more times than not are gay. Look at Jen Tsaki for a good example of a drama queen or most liberal / democrat / socialists.
Roadsterrider · 56-60, M
Conflict is a difference of opinion that needs to be addressed. Drama is self inflicted and a means of garnering attention, or just poor results from stupid decisions. As a guy, I avoid the drama and real conflicts unless my participation is absolutely necessary. Guys get involved in just as much drama as girls do.
Freeranger · M
You are generalizing, and speaking from the opinions expressed within your sphere of life experience. Everyone's experience is different. I personally haven't experienced what you have, neither have others I suspect.
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
It's patriarchy, It is dissmissive and insulting. Gaslighting.
Cloud7593 · 46-50, F
@JimboSaturn True. Everything women do is analyzed and criticized by men.

Yep. They are justifying themselves and downplaying it.

Idk but let's attack the men about it 👌

I've never heard anybody of either gender call it a cinflict. This is the first time I've ever seen that weird-looking word. Lol :)

Crazychick · 36-40, F

Some women can be stereotypically silly. But I resent when they try to excuse it by "well, we women are like that !" Naw, sista. Speak for yourself. 🙄
JaggedLittlePill · 46-50, F
Men get over conflict faster Because women have higher standards and men accept shit women won't.
