Is kindness just flattery and compliments?

Sutten · 36-40, F
Kindness is genuine care for others and is shown through respect, patience, and thoughtful actions. Compliments can be part of kindness when they’re honest and sincere. Flattery, is usually exaggerated praise used to gain approval or influence someone. So, while kindness may include compliments, it’s deeper than praise and is reflected more in how you treat people than in what you say.

Mere flattery is not kindness. Compliments are. True kindness goes much deeper than that though.

First rule of any sort of kindness: You may be right, and I may be wrong.

It appears so for some.
Certainly not what it is for me, it is treatment, not just sweet words and treating those whom you do not like with care and consideration and not just giving it to those you dote on.

Absolutely not. In fact, those things aren't necessarily even kind. I'll flatter and compliment someone who has something I want. Kindness requires you to consider what would make the other person happy. And beyond just happy, because happiness is temporary. One must consider the basic needs, and then the next tier of needs, in order to build others up. That is kindness.

That is not how I would define it.
Flattery is praise to earn favor from someone, and a compliment can be sincere.
Words must match actions, and kindness involves actions, not just words.

No. I rarely give compliments and I don't do flattery. My kindness is genuine caring, even if it's unspoken. My kindness is giving a little, is being there and treating people respectfully.

It’s so nice to meet kind people… they are not selfish at all
