Can you confidently approach people in public to make conversation?

Could you do it at a work setting? A wedding? A public function? At a supermarket or big shop? At a small shop? At a big sporting event ? At a community event? At a concert or festival? At an airport or train station? At a school event for your kids? Just walking on the street?

Which ones would work for you?

No. I always wear my earphones when in public, unless I'm with someone I know.
Social phobia is horrible.
I can't start conversations and if people approach me, I respond but then I start panicking and I want to run away.

I can usually talk to anyone, I think it's easier to talk to women than men though. With women there are easy topics, clothes, makeup, kids, anything really but with men I have no idea what to talk about and if you try you just get one or two word answers usually.

Thankfully I don’t even understand the concept of social anxiety . I can talk to anyone anywhere . Cold approaches don’t bother me.

Also I reckon women can far more easily approach random people in any sort of setting compared to men. Just an anecdotal observation.

I can. I mostly don't want to though. And that is an important distinction.

I can confidently start a conversation. Keeping it going is another matter.

@Thevy29 It definitely takes two (at least) for a conversation and if the other party is reluctant/unable to engage it can be awkward.

Yes, but I mostly prefer not to.

That is such a wide range of situations it is impossible to give a single, simple answer that covers all of them.

Pretty much all except no kids

Generally speaking, yes, but context is everything so as not to misunderstood.
