I still think Musk knows he is doing this..😷

@whowasthatmaskedman He definitely thinks he knows what he’s doing.

@LeopoldBloom I dont pretend to understand this. But the only explanation I can think of is that he has a vision for Twitter 2.0 and has decided he cant get there from where he is without burning the house down first..😷

@whowasthatmaskedman I think he's mad because he tried to back out of the deal, and they forced him to go through with it. But that's just me, though.

@LeopoldBloom That sounds the more likely version
LeopoldBloom · M
@whowasthatmaskedman He should have conducted a top to bottom analysis of the company before making major changes. The fact that he's begging employees to come back after firing them and realizing that they were actually necessary shows that he doesn't know what he's doing. He's already floated the idea of bankruptcy and he hasn't even owned it for a month.

@LeopoldBloom Thats also possible.. Its not like he cant afford to blow this.. 😷

@LeopoldBloom
That hasn't been his business model with his other ventures so why would anyone expect differently? His work environment record -- at least at Tesla -- is atrocious.

@whowasthatmaskedman He will have to sell off shares of Tesla to keep Twitter from tanking at this point.
LeopoldBloom · M
@dancingtongue Tesla is overrated. When GM, Ford, Toyota, etc. go all-in on EVs, Tesla will either fold or be absorbed into one of them.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@LeopoldBloom Good. Maybe one of those other companies will be able to solve the problem of the electrical fires Elon keeps trying to suppress in the news.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@LeopoldBloom And he might... But Frankly I still think he does plan to run Twitter 1.0 into the ground and use the name and platform for something different. Twitter 2.0
LeopoldBloom · M
@whowasthatmaskedman He needs users and advertisers for that.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@LeopoldBloom True... But revenues for all social media platforms are losing revenue right now. (Notably Facebook/Meta) So I cant help wondering if Musk thinks he has a better way up his sleeve. Maybe eniminating the competition is his way forward..😷

But give him credit for (1) demonstrating a viable electric vehicle with a longer ranger was possible and (2) being successful enough to convince the auto industry there was a market there beyond what politicians forced them to do. Henry Ford wasn't the first developer of the automobile either.
LeopoldBloom · M
@dancingtongue I'll give him and his engineers credit for that. But that doesn't make him a visionary. Nobody remembers Adams-Farwell, Duryea, and the hundreds of other early automobile manufacturers.

@LeopoldBloom From his track record, he appears to be far more an entrepreneur than a visionary: first able to get venture capital for his early software programs including a forerunner of Paypal, selling them off at profits to begin self-funding the start-ups and IPOs of his better known ventures. Still an impressive track record for a double immigrant: first to Canada where he had dual citizenship through his mother, and then across our northern border with a student visa. One does wonder what the would have happened if his mother had been from Latin America and he had to come from the southern border. Our immigration laws are totally dysfunctional when it comes to who gets opportunities and who doesn't.
